Are hobby shops like porn shops?

Female friends of mine who went in often went right back out again very quickly. It wasn't a girl-friendly place.

This is a problem in a lot of game stores. I worked at a rather famous one in the greater Dallas area at one point in my life. Although the manager admitted that most of the customers where males of a certain age they did get female customers and they should be treated just as well as our other customers.

That's the one. But we gallows-humor gamers have never found a store with so clever a name that we didn't think we could improve on it.

'Sides which, Cerebral Palsy is a lot quicker to say than The I Have No Girlfriend Store.

Daniel

Cerebral Hemorage might suit your gallows humor, be less offensive and easier to say than The I Have No Girlfriend Store...

In my home town, Worcester, Mass., there is a game shop and porn shop, in the SAME bulding, along with a christian church of some type. I'm NOT kidding.

I never knew that one. But I didn't get very far from campus while I was at WPI. No car. No money. No interest in walking more than couple blocks.

Of course no one would be offended by this name.

Its not like a cerebral hemorage might kill you or anything.

Well, This game store is only a few years old, don't know when you were at WPI.

umm my experiance with women and straight male gamers has been different. I play in all straight groups and everytime a woman joins or come into the game store it's like a pack of dogs following a bone. She could be dressed as a clown on crake and they'll still fawn over her as the starving for women animals they are . Sad . so sad .

It has been much to my amusement that my current game group has 2-4 women in it. One of which is my wife of course (who happens to have CP, so I don't want to see a comment like the above again) A high school friend of my wife also plays regularly. Player 3 is a neighbour who would like to join. Player 4 is currently on a 6month working trip to Australia. Other than me there are 2 guys, one of whom has just joined. Our local store www.sentrybox.com is very mixed, but there is still a large slant toward guys. Unfortunately this mix has nothing to do with the game and everything to do with some guys. I still am peeved when I remember at a demo I was running for Classic Battletech, a woman commented that her husband plays warhammer, but she isn't "allowed" to join, despite her building all his terrain. What's my point you ask.
Our very assumption that women don't play is what keeps them from playing.

you are so right about that. But also on the other side of it I've seen alot of wives not allowed to play because it's the fellas time away from her. A dirty little married mans secret.:)
