D&D (2024) Are the new default alignments of Goblins (CN) and Kobolds (N) more consistent with their current portrayals?

I very strongly prefer that goblins and kobolds remain evil. Of course, I ALSO think that mindlessly pretend-slaughtering sentient creatures MERELY because one disagrees with their moral choices is something that should be discouraged.

I mean, I could go into more detail if you want, but it didn’t seem relevant to the topic.

Well, we have had the 'i like/dont like the species change' and the 'i like/dont like the word change' so I suppose its right on schedule for the 'i like/dont like alignment' 100 page thread?

We already know how it will go, but that doesnt stop any of us does it? ;)

I guess a campaign could go more likely go like this:
  1. There's some trouble with Goblin raiders
  2. PCs discover they're part of a Hobgoblin invasion force
  3. PCs find that the Goblins aren't being treated well by the Hobgoblins
  4. PCs befriend some Goblins, and the Goblins ally with the PCs to overthrow the Hobgoblins
  5. Hobgoblin Warlord defeated
  6. PCs reach 5th level, they get bastions, but their bastion is run by the Goblins that allied with them
  7. The PCs discover what a nightmare it is, to have a Bastion that's run by Goblins

I actually like alignment. I just think default alignments for entire species is dumb.
