Are there any new MMORPGs coming out soon?

Star Wars Galaxies seemed to be the last big MMORPG released. Are there any other new ones coming out in the near future? Is Horizons due out soon? What about EverQuest II?

I've been out of the MMORPG loop, and I'm just wondering what games, if any, have been creating a buzz lately.

Final Fantasy XI, I guess.... *shrug* Can't say it excites me in the least, but then again, I haven't kept up with the latest buzz. Here's to hoping for a truly innovative MMORPG in the future instead of a bunch of Everquest clones.

In the meantime, I think every MMORPG junky that has an inclination toward space combat should just play Allegiance and help it rise from the ashes of obscurity.

The World of Warcraft beta test is supposed to be starting during the final quarter of this year. It's looking like it will be a successful MMORPG, since Blizzard Software has a huge following. The official website for World of Warcraft is here.

I'm really curious to see what Blizzard will do with a MMORPG. They have such an awesome track record. I will be checking this one out.

If awesome means woefully inadequate in your dictionary. If you've followed Diablo II at all you will know that they have had nothing but security and stability problems from day one. Cheating and hacking are so widespread and rampant that they have had to ban tens of thousands of users. I would like to think that they have learned something from this debacle, but I am not very confident.

Well, I haven't played DII online at all. I hadn't heard that they had lots of problems in that area. I have enjoyed all of their games from a single player perspective.

Horizons is still tentativly sheduled for sometime in november.

Shadowlands (Expansion for Anarchy Online, that changes the gameplay a fair bit in the new lands) just came out a week or two ago.

The only other two MMORPS I'm following are Ryzom and Dragon Empires, neither of which are due out anytime soon.

World of Warcraft might (not likely, but might) pull me into the MMORPG arena.

Mostly I'm posting here because I want to know whether anyone else's brain parses MMORPGs as standing for "Mighty MORphin' Power Gamers." Every single time I see it.
