Are you a 3.5e grognard? Post here!

Is there such a thing as a vanity gronard?

I'm gonna miss seeing my name in the Core Rules playtesters credits, bawahaha!

*chuckles*

You know, I really don't mind this. Which isn't to say that I look forward to it, I guess I'm just sort of ambivalent. I'll take a look at it, and if I like it I'll go with it. God knows I've got enough material for 3.5 that I've never even touched to last a lifetime, so it's not like it'll be the end of the world. Hell, I've said since it came out that if Star Wars Saga is a preview of 4th edtion, I'm totally in.

I am, however, completely and utterly shocked. I seriously did not expect this to be the big announcement. I guess I just got jaded by everyone constantly crying wolf about 4th edition.

That's actually the problem with crying wolf: eventually the wolf shows up!

Guess I will be a 3.5 grognard for a while, too. I've gotten a good shelf of stuff over the last couple years but not much playtime yet! Need to use my 3.5 stuff...

I've never been a grognard for anything. I look forward to D&D 4th Edition and Fallout 3, with great excitement. My gaming goes back 20 years to 1st Edition and Basic/Expert D&D (and both Fallout games), so it's got nothing to do with a lack of gaming experience. Must be the ADHD in me.

The last issue of Dragon magazine finally arrived in the mail today, and as I was looking through it I felt something break inside me. Ravenloft is gone, Dragon and Dungeon are gone, Dragonlance is gone, and now all of D&D as I know it will be gone too. The game I enjoyed for many years no longer exists, just like my gaming group breaking up several years ago. WotC has gradually sucked all the life out of it; even seeing the initials "D&D" makes me feel like I've been punched in the gut.

I will definitely not be playing 4e. However, I'm not sure I can get any more enjoyment out of 3.5e either, or any other version for that matter. The entire experience has been completely ruined for me, I'm afraid it's time to move on to something that doesn't bring back bad memories.

Dude, you need to take a step back and get some perspective. From the sound of it, we're the same era. You know what? My copy of DLA still "works", and the original Ravenloft module is still awesome. My Dragon collection can't be "de-flooded", which sucks, but I'm A-OK.

If D&D moves on, you'll live. Chill.

As for the OP, I'm an Iron Heroes man now, so it's all a moo point. Like a cow's opinion, it just doesn't matter.

I'll probably pick it up to plunder the better rules for my homebrew though.

Dude, I'm still 3.0e grognard.

And before that, I was a 1st ed. grognard right until the 3rd ed. PH came out, and out of couriousity I glanced through it.

I may borrow from 4e like I borrow here and there from 3.5, but by bet is that I won't convert. If 3.5 is an idication of the direction they are going, I don't want to be following them.

I mstayign right here in 3.. I saw SW:SA and i have to say i didnt like what i saw. I will stay here and become a grognard for 3.5. If there are enoguh of use we can turn 4e into ME
