4E, I switched to 7E months ago. You guys have got to stop living in the past.

P.S. 4E may be all about the 4dventure, but 7E is all about getting back to the chicks in chainmail bikinis.

In the last eight years there has been more product to support "the most popular roleplaying game" than in all previous conditions COMBINED. d20 Grognards have the potential to be the biggest "non-current martyrs", going down with their dead system under the weight of literally thousands of books. :D

I won't be changing editions. 4th edition is completely unnessecary at this time IMO, and I have more than enough 3.5 material that I'll never need to upgrade. I'll happily go along with 3.5 from here on in.

I guess I've hit a personal milestone, I have no interest in an edition of D&D. I've been gaming since 1978 and I don't see myself buying yet ANOTHER edition of the game. I have *dozens* of 3.5 books. I've invested too much money in this edition to justify buying another. Simple economics really. I will miss having this board (and the Wizard's board) as I visit daily. But I don't see them keeping 3.5 topics around... I still have the dnd newsgroup I guess, we even have 1E fans on it still... After getting my last copy of Dragon yesterday and now this... I may well be getting depressed...

Maybe I will spend my gaming dollars on other systems... Wizards just lost a loyal customer...

When I have thoroughly exhausted the following 3.5e edition settings and sourcebooks, I will move on to 4e:

Expedition to...
Eberron
Forgotten Realms
Complete...
Wilderlands of High Fantasy
Mythic Vistas
Freeport
Iron Kingdoms
Pathfinder
Arcana Evolved
WLD/WLC
Thieves World

Need I go on? Is it really worth clearing off your shelves for D&D Saga edition?

Well, I'll keep playing D&D 3.5 at least until all the 4th ed. core books have been translated into German - unless my players are fed up with the game before that.

Judging how long that took for version 3.0, they'll probably release version 4.5 soon after...

If my 3.5 stuff is still usable with minimal conversion, then I will upgrade. If not, then I won't.

My sentiments exactly. you know after being reassured by several people who work for WOTC (in various interviews, etc) that 4th Edition was a ways off this kinda feels like, I dunno a big ol con job. I know it's corporate america, but I'm a little more emotional than I would normally be about something like this as I actually liked 3.5.

I hated 2nd Ed and stopped playing not too long after it came out, when they announced 3rd edition I was eager for a change. Now not so much. Like Dave Mage said, if it's a lot of work to convert stuff then they can keep it and I'll keep playing 3.5. I literally have TONS of 3 + 3.5 material and if is automatically rendered useless by the new edition that means I pretty much stop giving WOTC any more of my money.

Oh, I can understand why some people will still be playing 3.5E:

"Nostalgia."

Harharharhar!

Sorry. As one of the oft-derided "grognards", I had to get that out of my system.

But seriously, as the saying goes they're not going to come take your books away. If you really like 3.5E that much, as long as you've got your books/SRD/whatever, you can keep playin' till the cows come home.

It's not that we're worried we can't play our 3.5E games anymore, why can't people understand this?

It's because we won't be receiving new game material to enhance our 3.5E games. No 3.5E books for new material for Tome of Battle, no Giantnomicon for 3.5E, no 3.5E Complete Warrior 2...nothing. We've been abandoned and all support material will be for 4E, a system I definitely will not switch to.

My sentiments exactly. The compatibility has to work one way or the other for me.

If I can take 4E and change it to 3.5E rather easily with not much work I'll consider 4E. If I can take ALL my 3.5E material and easily adapt it to 4E, I'll consider 4E.

Otherwise, WotC can rot away at its core for all I care. How long will it be before 4.5E or 5E? It's only been 5 years since 3.5e was released...expect to see 5E in the year 2011, everyone!

My houserules for 3e aren't even done yet.....

.......Not a chance of my buying 4e right now. And, if it's not OGL compliant, not a chance of my buying it ever.
