Forget what? The whining? Sounds good to me. ;)

I dunno, man. I can whine with the worst of them. :p

Screw 4E. Too much money invested in 3.5 and as recently as last month (Complete Champion!). If it ain't broke... And I don't want to hear about it being broken (in any sense of the word) because if it's fun, it's fun, damnit.

Seriously, changes for the sake of changes and making a new edition because a major toy company (Rhode Island based or not) needs more profit is bull.

I'm getting the feeling that my decaf wasn't really decaf this morning...

I shall be a Grognard. I may steal bits and pieces from 4E (SRD only), but I seriously doubt I'll lay out cash for it anytime soon.

Besides, there is so much to choose from right now, why worry about upgrading. 3E brought us some great product & rules, True20 anyone. I'll think I'll be happy in the 3E old folks home.

Well, if that's the way you feel about it ... I didn't really think you'd be that quick to embrace 4th edition though.

I live and learn.

The mess of arbitrary old unwieldy and unplayable rules that was 3.5? Come on, be honest. How many people do you know who ever played 3.5 as written? NOBODY! It was all house rules, man! Your 3.5 game and my 3.5 game were totally different! Totally! It isn't gonna be like that any more! 4th will change things, and for the better.

(this thing is broken I can't turn it ooooooooooffffffffffffffffffffffff)

That's what I'll do. If anything

I think what it comes down to is what are they keeping and what are they ditching? Ability score system looks like it'll stay, but what about spell slots? Feats look like they'll stay, skills will definitely change. I sincerely hope that stupid Talent system isn't being used, but it probably is.

I think we all need to study the Star Wars Saga rules some more. Obviously, some of the material in there will be used for 4E.

I'm probably going to begin my 4E to 3.5E conversion project. Or a 3.5E to 4E project, whichever is the easier one. That is...assuming 4E isn't that huge of a change.

I have this fear I'll flip open a PH, and find Maneuvers, or Reserve feats. Should that be the case, I think that is the day I shall become a grognard.

Or a serious game designer. One of the two, though. :)

I will almost definitely buy this "fourdventure" thing.

But, as to whether I'll actually end up playing 4E more than the various awesome strains of d20/OGL that have already diverged from D&D, I can't really say. I already know that 4E won't be close enough to True20 for my tastes (I saw the phrase "prestige classes" somewhere), and it'll be quite a while before there's enough 4E material available to rival the existing giant piles of 3.5 crunch. And, hell, I just taught my mostly-used-to-White-Wolf-and-Amber gaming buddies about D&D 3.x, and they've become attached to the little pregen characters I made for them.

But, no, I've gone through Red Box, to AD&D, to 2nd Edition, to 3.x without ever becoming a grognard, and I ain't going to now. I have every reason to expect that the new D&D will be a significant improvment over the current D&D, and I'm eager to get my hands on it . . . even if I expect that I'll still be houseruling it as much as ever. I ain't a grognard, but I sure am a gearhead.

I dunno. I think Grognard is a term already claimed by those who played D&D with an initial in front of it - OD&D, AD&D, even BECMI D&D.

You decimal D&D folks (3.x, 4.x, etc) gotta go find your own term. ;)
