D&D 5E Are you ready for a new edition of D&D?

I am ready and eagerly awaiting it! Not all my friends are playtesting it, some preferred to wait for the final product to play it (after trying one of the early more basic packet and finding playtesting was not for them) so i can't wait to launch a new campaign with them once it releases.

I'm still enjoying Pathfinder immensely, but a somewhat lighter version of D&D that gets back to more of its roots would be welcome as well.

Yup.

After two long-term campaigns and one Gamma World short campaign... I've grown tired of the powers/miniatures/grid format for my games. I'm looking forward to getting back to running a theater-of-the-mind game again, with new and old mechanics used in a new way again.

I usually burn out on any edition after about 4 years (I play twice weekly), whereupon I wait patiently for the next edition while playing other games.

But then, I'm GMing Slumbering Tsar, which is cooler than any adventure I've ever GMed. We'll be playing it for quite a while longer...

It's a simple question, with a not-so-simple answer. Are you ready for a new edition of D&D?

I guess the answer is I must be. Because starting on Saturday, March 29th, I am starting a new Castles & Crusades game as DM. C&C is just as much another edition of D&D as Pathfinder is. I am pretty psyched about it and my players are really getting into it and we haven't even played a minute yet. I will still be also DMing a D&D fourth edition campaign for some time as well.

I am interested in 5E for sure. I have been involved in the hobby for too long not to check it out. If 5E can bring a simpler--yet just as fun--convention gaming experience back then I would definitely play it at Origins and GenCon and perhaps other venues. On average my home game group plays 3 weekends a month and sometimes all of them. So I haven't been to a convention in a while. I am seriously considering attending GenCon and perhaps Origins this year. If 5E can help bring genuine fun and excitement to GenCon then that is a good thing.
