Yair: Yet another rules fail for me. Lets say that he also wanted to keep annoying familiars out, and he obviously has some animal.

Guessing from dust is difficult. It appears that the displays had mainly small things, with nothing larger than an urn.

"Some idea what we're up against" answers Leo. "Someone took things from here - who? why? I hoped I could see at least what they took. That might have told us something. I'm not even sure we need to barge into that last laboratory. I think the people that cause the problems are afoot here, someohw. They took things. They played with the blood outside the bound demon. We're missing something."

"What shall we do next? I have little experience with such things." Thomas asks Illshana.

"Uh...I guess...we go back down and help the others," Ilshana posits. "I think I'll go take another look at the fairy demon baby though. You guys can look in the other doors." She gave him a weak, phony smile, and hesitantly traipsed back down the stairs.

Do you think the demons from the abyss have the ability to cross the portal as well or they are bound to their plane of existence without the ability to cross the threshold?

DM – Can Gorgamesh answer the question using his knowledge.

Leo: You hunt around, looking at dust for a while. Circles, squares, and odd oblong shapes are vaguely revealed to you; you guess that finding anything else by looking at dust may indeed require magic involving finding out something.

Illshana: The walk back down the stairs is long, and the closer you get to the door the more your stomach muscles cramp and your hands shake. It isn't too long before you can't force yourself any further.

Gorgamesh: You know that it is entirely possible for demons to cross regio barriers.

"There seems to be an entire city of demons beyond that portal" Leo answers. "I reckon that if they could cross into the world, this place would have long since been a cesspit and we would have witnessed unspeakable horrors. And they didn't seem to notice us across the boundary, either. No, I think they cannot cross it, for some reason. Which only makes whomever has done all those things here even more mysterious."

Leo gives up trying to figure out what was taken, and returns to face the door. "Whomever took things from here had to put them somewhere. This looks like the only place left. Do you have any ideas how to open it? ... Safely?"

"Well", says Leo, "I'm not giving up without a fight. Gorgamesh - can you discern if the door is magicked?" Leo looks expectantly at the mage.

OOC: Roy, can you have Gorgamesh cast a spontaneous InVi spell on the door, to see if there are magical traps? Cast some on the wall while you're at it; wizards can be careless with their enchantments sometimes...

And guys... are we slow for a reason?
