Ars Magica: Lumen Montis, A Covenant in the Alps [OOC]

Sorry Redhound for not being more clear. This is the correct place for these posts.

I'll try to get the next post (about activities for the next season) up quickly, and will run the lottery for primus when everyone has said whether they're in.

Matteo is likely to be interested in the position of Primus *at some point*, assuming it doesn't create any conflicts of interest with his being a Quaesitor [CP? or others with ArsM supplements?]. But even if it doesn't, it's likely to be more prudent for him to spend his first few years as an independent magus focused on establishing himself as a good Quaesitor.

So since Matteo doesn't have any strong reasons not to defer, he's sitting this one out.

He's also willing to assist in negotiations with Lemannus. He's fairly good at that sort of thing, and likely to know Lemanus' hot button issues [CP?]. Though volunteering may be a matter better suited to IC posts.

Tsaran, if asked, will make the following points:

He has no sigil, and won't until he beats the best he knows of at certámen. He expects this to take some time.

He owes a season of service to Lord Volakula every year, and will preforce be away from the covenant one season a year.

He is possibly the worst magus in the covenant.

Though he has experience with intrigue and with mundanes, he has very little of each.

If chosen as primus, he would need a LOT of help running things from everyone else and would delegate as much as possible to whoever seems the most appropriate.

I also make the point that I'm still having trouble understanding this interface (I didn't find page 3 of this board until today) -- I would need help too.

If, given all this (though Tsaran has no idea about the interface), the covenant wishes him to be primus, he will do it.

If not asked, Tsaran will assume he is not being considered, and will say nothing on the topic.

In short: If nominated, he will campaign against himself, but if elected he will serve.

Lottery

That's what I thought when I first saw the charter. But then I reconsidered. It makes a certain amount of sense for the first primus selection, given that hardly anyone in the covenant knows each other, except (presumably) those from Lemannus, which hardly makes for a fair or productive first election. The only real trouble that I see with the current Primus setup is that there is currently no Secundus to assign the Primus' required service, or to succeed him in the event of his death or removal. We may want to remedy that.

I hadn't thought about the service assignment. I had sort of figured that in the event of the first Primus' unavailability the covenant would hold an emergency council; the wonky two-year term for the second Primus makes the usual Secundus scheme a bit odd. Plus we still have the uninformed election problem. You are, however, correct; having a Secundus to assign the Primus' service would probably be smart.
