Crawford has said that familiars can use the Help action on ability checks, with the caveat that it must still work within the parameters of the "Working Together" rules on page 175 of the PHB.
I'd like to hear some ideas for what one could do with various familiars. Obviously imps, pseudodragons, quasits, and sprites from the Pact of the Chain are going to be the superstars here and I'd love to hear about things you could get their help with but I'd also like to hear about combos using the vanilla familiars as well.
For clarity, here's the rule from the PHB:

For clarity, here's the rule from the PHB:
A character can only provide help if the task is one that he or she could attempt alone. For example, trying to open a lock requires proficiency with thieves' tools, so a character who lacks that proficiency can't help another character in that task. Moreover, a character can help only when two or more individuals working together would actually be productive. Some tasks, such as threading a needle, are no easier with help.
