Level Adjustment is +3, due to flight and very nice ability adjustments. They have an average wingspan of 12 feet, and cannot fly in an area that doesn't allow them to fully extend their wings. Also, the usual: no heavy armour or load, not fatigued or exhausted.

Hi!

Ahem... ;). The FAQ (2005/03/25) mentions this:
FAQ said:
"Note that some creatures in the game cannot fly when wearing medium or heavy armor, no matter what their load happens to be (for example, the avariel from Races of Faerûn), so be sure to check the creature’s description for any special limits on its flying ability."

Oddly enough, it seems to be a "special restriction", made up to "balance" that race.

Kind regards

I think it makes sense. Other creatures, like dragons, are exeptionally strong, with equally strong wings (and/or a supernatural mode of flying instead of sheer muscle power and the like). Others, like the Avariel, don't have wings that are too strong. They're meant to carry them, but not them and tons of equipment. Other wings are for heavy duty.

I can't call them "avariel"...I just can't. I still call them "Al-Karak Elam" from the old Dragon issue where they were first introduced. "Avariel" sounds so..... bland.
