What's it like? What kind of game is it? How many players and how long does it take to play? Come on, give us some info on it! :D

your on this space ship, and it gets infested with these awful green things that have spores and will take over if you don't exterminate them. It's two player, one player plays the crew, one plays the green things. The crew is a diverse group with 'stuff' at their disposal to use as weapons and they have to figure out what hurts the green things, which is different every time. Also different is there are some weapons that will help the green things a bit if your not careful. Crew die and the Green Things just multiply like mad.

One of the ways we played it when I was a kid was one of our DM's would play the green things and we would play one or more crew.

I'm sitting here thinking that it could be adapted to a coop game of a sort.

Awful Green Things From Outer Space

Above are some alternate rules for a GM version of the game, but really you could have a robot run the Green Things in those and everyone be crew!

Actually this just got me thinking about my upcoming Traveller game.... uh oh. My players are going to hate me... some more...

Monsters Everywhere!

The crew of the exploration ship Znutar just wanted to cruise around the Galaxy, discovering strange new worlds and playing pool. But then their ship was invaded by the Awful Green Things . . . and suddenly they were fighting for their lives!

In this wacky two-player game, one player controls the Awful Green Things. They grow and multiply every turn – especially if they can gobble up a crew member! The other player commands the crew, frantically trying weapon after weapon (pool sticks, fire extinguishers, cans of Zgwortz) to find something that kills the monsters.

This classic game by Tom Wham first appeared in Dragon Magazine in 1980, and has been a fan favorite ever since! This edition includes Tom's "Outside the Znutar" rules and counters, for going out the airlocks and fighting on the surface of the ship, and upgraded components: a mounted gameboard, heavy die-cut counters, and a full-color rulebook![/sblock]

I still have my original cut-out version of King of the Tabletop, packed away somewhere.

The Awful Green Things From Outer Space

I've been waiting for this. I've never owned a copy and now I will.

I remember playing the set from the magazine and loved it, but for some reason I kept missing it. $25 doesn't seem to bad, maybe a little steep, still it's a classic game with some cool additions free online.

Love the game, but the last version put out by SJ Games had dreadful production values, as with so many of their games. :.-( Hope this one is better. I'll buy it either way, tho . . . it truly rocks.

I have it.

It's pretty good, this 8th version. My son got first chance to play it with a friend of his, both of them have never heard of it. They had a blast. I'm going to bring it to Board Game Night this Monday night and see who wants to play.
