[B.A.D.D.] - Iconic dragons

mm75 - did you get my email?

I've been thinking a lot about the Misc page. My first thought was this: we have many members with varied opinions on the actual use of dragons. Some seem to think that dragons should be virtually invincible, while another thinks they should just put up a fair fight for the PCs and not be pushovers. Some think that dragons cannot be represented in their full glory to low-level PCs, and should be reserved for PCs on high levels (5+, 10+, or even 15+), while others feel that they can be used on all levels, provided they are used appropriately.

This made me think that we could use an "issues" page with essays from other BADD members. Then I got an even better idea.

I forgot it.

MM75 - make that emails. ;)

For the evil DM in each of you, I present the following:

Wyrmling anarchic fiendish white dragon: CR 1; Tiny Dragon (Cold); HD 3d12+3; hp 22; Init +0; Spd 60 ft, fly 150 ft (average), swim 60 ft, burrow 30 ft; AC 14 (+2 size, +2 natural); Melee bite +5 (1d4), 2 claws +0 (1d3); SA breath weapon; SQ icewalking, cold subtype, immunities, acid resistance 5, electricity resistance 5, fire resistance 5, sonic resistance 5, blindsight, keen senses; Face/Reach 2½ ft by 2½ ft / 5 ft; SR 6; AL CE; SV Fort +4, Ref +3, Will +3; Str 11, Dex 10, Con 13, Int 6, Wis 11, Cha 6.

SQ–Immunities (Ex): Immune to polymorphing, petrification, sleep, paralysis.
SQ–Blindsight (Ex): Dragons can ascertain creatures by nonvisual means (mostly hearing and scent, but also by noticing vibrations and other environmental clues); this dragon's range is 30 feet.
SQ–Keen Senses (Ex): Dragons can see four times as well as humans in low-light conditions and twice as well in normal light. They also have darkvision (range 100 feet).
SQ–Cold Subtype (Ex): Cold immunity, double damage from fire except on a successful save.

Hover + 2 smites + resistances, all for CR 1. :)

Wyrmling anarchic fiendish white dragon

AKA - The abyssal white dragon wyrmling. I like.

Unrelated note. I just sent out the Juvenile age of Cupchal. If you look at the MM, the differences between Young and Juvenile are minor. He is getting tougher in general, and I played that up, but the base tactics did not change a lot. As a result, I referenced the previous version instead of repeating everything. (It is still over 2 pages worth) My question is: Is there any reason we want each age to be completely stand alone? Is it ok to reference one to the other for details.

I'm writing mine as stand alone, since I don't think a person would actually read more than they were going to use for a play session. I detail each new item only when it first comes up (after which I just call it a "ruby (300 gp)"), but that's mostly for fun.

OK. The references are pretty minor, so I will leave it alone for this stage and go ahead and make the rest 100% stand-alone.

Take a look, if you think it needs to be patched, I'll send in a revision.

So, I guess you guys are only able to use OGL compliant dragons right? so the basics from the MM, as well as any other ones that are compliant... does that mean Shadow dragons etc. aren't useable. (Reason I'm asking is that I wouldn't mind adding another little project to my extensive list and make one for you guys)

-W.

LcKedovan - I'll let MM75 answer that; I'd love to see an iconic shadow dragon, but I don't know if its doable.

I've been working on some parts of the site that looked like they could use an update - the links page, for example, was originally based on a list of links I provided, but I never really described them, so they're not descriebd on the site.

I attached a ZIP file with 2 new pages: a possible replacement for the links page and two versions of the dragons page, along with a gif for the links page. Look at it and give constructive critiques if possible.

I prefer the dragons page with the large paragraphs.

Do you think it's an improvement over the existing page, or is it "back to the drawing board" for me?

What about the links page? Personally, I think the links page is much better than the existing one - it fixes some problems I'm responsible for in the first place. I'm less sure of the dragons page; mine seem sparse and utilitarian (hallmarks of my design ;)), though slightly more useable.
