Back to playing

Julie and I miss her
After DMing for the longest time, I'm going back to playing a character. My wife Julie will be running the show in a one-on-one based campaign. Any tips for the old guy who's basically forgotten how to play without being in charge ? ;)

The hardest thing about playing for me was getting used to the idea I was not involved in everything. Naturally, that will not be an adjustment you need to make in a one-on-one game.

I think playing a little has helped me realize even more what is fun for the players and I really strive to provide that in my campaign.

Enjoy!

Always remember, the DM is right.
Almost forgot that one ! ;) It might be difficult though. This is her second try at DMing and she feels a bit insecure about it. I'm sure that she'll be asking questions and advice all the way through the first few games. I'm sure she'll do fine in the end.

Let her find her feet with the rules as a DM her own way, and respect that it's not going to be the same way you run a game. The hardest thing, for me, after starting as a player after years of DMing was getting used to the fact that other DM's emphasised different rules and styles in their games. Offer help if you know the answer and you're asked, but otherwise bite you tongue and see where things are going.
