I was wondering though why you didn't include the Computer Use skill from d20 Modern.

Well, you should notice that there are no "genre specific" skills of any kind.

Computer Use is too broad a skill classification at any rate, I think. Depending on what you want to do with it, I think Research, Profession, Craft, and Knowledge will have you covered.

As a GM, I don't like catch-all skills, but if you wanted to preserve an Int-based catch-all for computers then Knowledge (Computer Use) is your solution; for a Wis-based approach, use Profession (Computer Programmer).

Those skills with sub-skills (Craft, Drive, Ride, Knowledge, Profession, and to some extent Perform) are very important tools to allowing the GM to customize his campaign. You can pretty much define any kind of sub-skill you or the player can come up with. Read the Knowledge skill in particular for how sub-skill definitions (broad or specific) can affect how the skill is applied.

Today I'm going to dig into the wealth section of the Equipment chapter - at first glance it seems much different then the d20 Modern version.

The actual Wealth mechanics should be the same-- though there is a lot of material added from Magical Medieval Society with regards to finding and making purchases above and below cost...

My greatest fear with the Wealth/Currency system is that folks will find the hard costs listed in some places off-kilter-- but that is because GT assumes a silver (not gold) standard. It looks a little wonky to see a longsword priced at 120 currency units-- so be careful!

Again, that does make sense.

So far, I really like what you've done. If I had to write a recipe for Grim Tales, it would be 1 cup d20 Modern, 1 cup D&D, 1 tablespoon Spycraft, 1 teaspoon d20 Call of Cthulhu, a pinch of Arcana Unearthed, salt and pepper with every other d20 product out there to taste.

Wulf, I think (actually I know) I'm going to have a lot of questions for you about the new system for CRs and ELs, but I want to try "deconstructing" it on my own first. Where's the best place to bug you online so I don't tie up the publisher forum - the d20 System games forum here at EN World?

Thanks again :)

Hey, save a little consideration for the skill of the chef. ;)

Well, for now at least, I'd go here:

http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=83798

We're working on a purer, more accurate mathematical model (which unfortunately isn't something we could simply print) and I'll release an Excel spreadsheet to do it for you when it's all set!

Wow! I'm really excited to get my hands on this, Wulf. Sounds like something that's really going to work in my game. Have you guys made sure all the local FLGSs are stocking you? I'd hate to have to wait. ;)

I am but a wee publisher subject to the whims of big distributors...

So I'll tell you what I tell everyone:

1) Ask for it at your FLGS and tell them to order it. (Throw a "dammit!" in there if you have to, and a "You really should be stocking everything Bad Axe puts out..." for good measure.)

2) If the FLGS won't stock it, the fine folks at Osseum make sure that Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and even Walmart.com are stocking it.

3) Failing that, you can order it from our webstore at www.badaxegames.com (though we will not start shipping this ourselves for a bit yet)...

4) And finally, you could get a copy hand-delivered by yours truly at Peg Con. You are going to Peg Con, aren't you?

What type of character races (if any) or class will be in Grimm Tales? Since these a hybrid from what I read on this thread, how much of a hybrid?

The core classes are the d20 Modern classes-- though you could use almost any class without changes, unless you changed something fundamental like spellcasting.

Grim Tales does not mention any race, though I suppose that makes it essentially humanocentric. Rules for creating new races are included within, and the core D&D races are broken down using that system to give you examples.
