I don't know what the going rate for Media Mail would be, but I suspect part of it would depend on the size of the order.

A single book is going to be under $2 and the rates scale upwards depending upon weight (10lbs is about $5).

But with a sale that amounts to $5.00 a book

But that is not what it amounts to if you factor the entire cost. A single book + shipping = $13. Still a good deal, but it is a good bit more than $5.

I don't want this to turn into an argument about "how good" the deal really is. Bastion has made a very nice gesture with the discount and should be commended for it.

However, there is one major issue that needs to be adressed. There are posters in this thread who appear to have ordered products based on $0 for shipping. If that is truly the case they need to be informed on whether Bastion will honor that price, and if that is not possible what needs to be done for them to rectify the situation.

Shipping is calculated at the time of the order. Before you give them your credit card#, you see exactly how much you're spending. I just ordered Oathbound, Plains of Penance, and Wrack & Ruin, and it cost a total of $28, with no tax. Given those books would cost me a significant bit more than that if I purchased them at the store, even with shipping, it's still not a bad deal at all.

I would think Bastion will probably ship out the books with free shipping to those who managed to order them that way....everyone else will have to pay shipping. But I'm not "in the know"....I'm just guessing.

Thanks much Mr. Butler!

This is a good thing right? Bastion is sticking around, right?

I think my Oathbound players would be heartbroken to hear that Bastion was in trouble.

I just ordered nine books, including Oathbound for $10, so a total of $50 before shipping. Media mail was only $12. Very fair, so I suggest going for quantity to reduce your per-book price. Come on, $5 is less than I pay for lunch most days.

Just got mine (Torn Asunder, Into the Black, Into the Green, into the Blue, and Spells&Magic)! I see that I slid in before the s/h prices were adjusted, so I'll just consider that I owe you more support. I'm eyeing A&A 3.5 for sometime post-holiday...

Don't worry Razuur, we aren't going anywhere :D

Shew! Good to know that I'm still going to be able to get more Oathbound goodness. Anyhow, what are the odds of seeing a Oathbound Racial splat? I'd love to have one!

I can't divulge any details yet, but rest assured Frukathka, yours and other players prayers should be answered sometime next year with a major Oathbound release that is currently in development.

As Teneb said, Bastion has no intention of going away. Like most other publishers, we are adjusting our marketing strategy slightly to compensate for the drop in orders by retailers that nearly every publisher is experiencing in one form or another. This means we are taking our time to make our books even better than they are now and using our revenue wisely for future releases so that we can insure that Bastion remains a force in the publishing industry known for their quality and originality. We are in this for the long haul as long as gamers continue to purchase our products.

So show your support for Bastion by buying the people in your gaming group a Christmas present from this fantastic sale. ;)

I don't think anyone can fault us for asking that the buyers pay for shipping when we are selling the books at such a rock-bottom price. :)

Oh, hardly! I'm just patting myself on the back for acting quickly enough when the shipping was free!!

I'm starting to think i should have added 2 or 3 more books to the order. But hey, don't want to be too greedy! ;)
