If the Battle Sorcerer is "broken" then the Cleric is shattered into thousands of tiny peices.

Clerics get better saves, better armor, and way more spells than a Battle Sorcerer, so if your DM disallows them, he needs to do something about the Cleric as well.

Sorcerers already have a steep limit on their known spells. Reducing this even further greatly reduces their power, the compensation is only fair.

I agree; the Battle Sorcerer is hardly overpowered. I've played one a few times; the limits on spellcasting are significant enough that I wouldn't consider the light armor and better HP and BAB to be overbalanced. At first level, you know one first-level spell, and can cast it three times per day (assuming your Cha is at least 12).

Yeah, that was my response to. They are so limited in spells, the other stuff barely balances out the deficit. I am currently playing one, and it's fun, but I don't think it's too powerful by a long shot compared to other base classes.

Another thing that battle sorcerers end up dealing with is they won't be the utility guy the regular sorcerer was. With a much more limited spell selection, you won't liekly learn things like fireball, but instead more like things like cat's grace, shield, true strike, and other self-buffs.

Especially when the cleric can still do more then the sorcerer in the long run (as noted, more spells known all the while), and can still kick the battle sorcerer's ass in combat with better armor and shields, and variety on weaponry. And as noted above, since the sorcerer is more likely to self-buff, while clerics have the option to do that and blast more often, it seems the cleric wins in flexibility.

I still like battle sorcerers a lot though. I think they are strictly better then the regular sorcerer in the simple fact they aren't "Wizards, but spontaneous!". They have their own little niche in the arcane food chain:)

Stuff.
