If you are talking about a build wall of stone bricks and mortar, it is absolutely obvious you can break through it with your warhammer.
If you are talking about a 5' of solid rock, you may need better tools.
BTW, the rules for breaking through materials are in D&D becuase you are expected to break through walls and doors. Otherwise the Wall of Stone spell gets really out of hand very quickly.
