Beautiful

(Note: I know the lyrics don't totally match the artist's page. That's because the lyrics on the page aren't right. I've corrected, but it's not major, there's only one line omitted/replaced. Finally, I'd be happy to send the song, and only this song, to those who IM me at DPKorkru. Make sure to mention that's why, otherwise I'm likely to ignore you.)

Everybody knows we live in a world,
Where they give bad names to beautiful things.
Everybody knows we live in a world,
Where we don't give beautiful things a second glance.

Heaven only knows we live in a world,
Where what we call beautiful is just something on sale.
People laughing behind their hands,
While the fragile and the sensitive are given no chance.

And the leaves turn from red to brown,
To be trodden down...
To be trodden down.
And the leaves turn from red to brown,
Fall to the ground...
Fall to the ground.

We don't have to live in a world,
Where we give bad names to beautiful things.
We should live in a beautiful world,
We should give beautiful a second chance.

And the leaves fall from red to brown,
To be trodden down...
To be trodden down.
And the leaves turn green to red to brown,
Fall to the ground,
And get kicked around.

You strong enough to be?
Have you the faith to be?
Say it enough to be?
Honest enough to stay?
Don't have to be the same,
Don't have to be this way,
C'mon and sign your name.
You wild enough to remain beautiful?
Beautiful...
Beautiful.

And the leaves turn from red to brown,
To be trodden down...
Trodden down.
And we all fall green to red to brown,
Fall to the ground...
We can turn it around.

You strong enough to be?
Why don't you stand up and say?
Give yourself a break,
They'll laugh at you anyway,
So why don't you stand up and be,
Beautiful?
Beautiful?

Black, white, red, gold, and brown,
We're stuck in this world,
Nowhere to go,
Turnin' around.
What are you so afraid of?
Show us what you're made of,
Be yourself and be beautiful,
Beautiful...

I prefer the Ministry definition myself:

"Love is like an open hand
Stings a little when it lands
Hold me closer, hold me tighter
Hold me so damn close that my heart's on fire
It's a fantasy, it's a nightmare
And the whole damn world is walking round in theirs
I said love

Love is like a razor blade
Double edge and double pain
Hold me closer, hold me tighter
When I rip your flesh and the pain is fresh
It's a fantasy, it's a nightmare
And the whole damn world doesn't seem to care
I said love

Love is like a butcher knife
Double sharp for single lives
Hold me closer, hold me tighter
As the lights go out and we start to shout
It's a fantasy, it's a nightmare
With a big black bruise and a handful of hair

Now LightPhoenix ... that's not fair. Autumn was my absolute favorite time when I grew up in Syracuse and all these lyrics about red and gold leaves do NOT help me. Where I live there are only evergreens and yellow leaves from the oaks. ::sigh::

A far cry from upstate New England's leafy autumnal splendor. I miss where I grew up every autumn ... the rolling hills covered with all those colors. Especially in the cemetaries ... I used to go for long walks through St. Mary's cemetary about this time of year. Such lovely, cool "jacket weather".

Edit: And by the way ... I personally prefer Altan's "I wish my love was a red, red rose" or G. Bok's "Tune for November" as far as love songs go. ;)
