The Cult of Belhandra
Belhandra has a practical legion of revelers, hedonists, and partygoers that use her name often. These folk are flighty though, and she finds her most truly devoted worshippers among bards, sorcerers, and fey. These people are generally peaceable, and while they do seek to enjoy themselves in her name, they also seek to make her goals of spreading goodwill a reality. Her temples are sometimes unfairly described as brothels; while the clergy’s services do go above and beyond that of most other religions, they do not just give this treatment to just anyone. Sensual services are often reserved for those who have done things to help their fellow beings, or for those who have been injured physically or emotionally. Evil beings are, of course, always turned away. These activities are considered pure and holy by the clergy while in a temple, and even spouses who follow Belhandra consider it an honor for a clergy member to spend time with their loved one.
The high rituals of Belhandra take place during the spring and fall equinoxes. These holidays are large festivals of music and fine dining, where all are welcome to take place in the spectacle. Local heroes and artists are honored at these celebrations, and usually lend a hand in leading the festivities. Midsummer is always celebrated with an orgy of sensation. Not only is sex highly prevalent at these parties, but also much emphasis is placed on food and drink, as well as sensual music and spontaneous dancing.
