Bend Spell combos?

Hey, all.

I'm currently playing a gnomish rogue/sorcerer in my buddy's
campaign, and he's a bit of a ray/energy missile specialist. He's
reached 9th level, and I've chosen the Bend Spell metamagic feat
(Dragon #291) for him. A bent spell basically negates any cover
an opponent may recieve against that spell (barring total cover)...

So I've great visions of fire orb-ing and silent sound-ing foes
without endangering any companions who happen to be in melee
with 'em, and eventually having fireballs you can't hide from...

I'm looking to explore every little thing I can do with this feat,
though, just to have a ton of fun and help me out with my spell
selection. I thought of a great combo: casting web on some
creatures and firing at them without worrying about the cover
the gooey strands provide them! Sounds like fun, eh? ;)

Anyway...any other ideas for creative applications of this feat?

Thanks in advance. :)

It's in the "Gnomes" issue, and it's a +1 spell level metamagic feat. :)

Well, you could always get a gnome-sized tower shield and leave it with the group while you scout.

What benefit would this have, exactly? I mean, I could still fire
around it anyway...even without the Bend Spell feat. What makes
it combine well with the metamagic?

If you attack from behind a tower shield, your enemies get a cover AC bonus as well. So, for example, with a ranged touch attack spell, you just bend it around the shield without actually poking your head out. That way you have full cover the entire time, but it won't be any harder for you to hit the baddies. I assume that's what James was going for, but I haven't even seen the feat.

Well, it's probably a mute point anyway, as Squint (the gnome)
has a Strength of 10. He's not going to lug around a 22 pound
hunk of metal wherever he goes. Good idea, though. :)

A shield spell would probably be better for the little guy.

Any other ideas? I appreciate the input. :)

Be stylish. Make shote that appe3ar to be impossible, that sort of thing... and give your enemy a big grin when the spell bends and hits them!

Even better, precede the spell with a short speech. "Tell ya what; if you're not guilty, this won't hit ya." Then fire what looks like over their head. :D
