Best City books?

I use bluffside for the main city. Across the other side of the world I use the CSIO from Necromancer Games. This fills my world nicely. To the south is the dragori city from bluffside again. If you match it all up it really works out well with all the details.

I can't wait to run an urban campaign set in Shelzar, and using the material from BoEF. Those two products are just made for each other.
Cool! Well have fun then! :) And if a certain piece of knowledge is needed...well you know which Sage to call. :D

Is the city book itself better than the original 3 adventures?

If you didn't like the original three Freeport adventures, stay away from the city book. Not that it's a bad book, on the contrary, it's excellent. However, it's in the same vein as the adventures and it appears they are not to your taste.

Geanavue: Stones of Peace, hands down the most detailed city ive seen described. Everything is covered.

Extremely well detailed and perhaps some of the most boring material I've read in a city book. I was very disappointed.

Regarding Genavue, Ed Greenwood is co-authoring anohter KoK city book coming out next year.
If you're referring to the Loona Guide that describes Geanavue's port suburb - Ed Greenwood left that project, and the book is supposedly at the printers or just about to be so.

Far as I know, there's no other item he is attached to.

Are you sure?

According to this thread in the Publisher's forum, Kenzer have said he's one of the authors.

Freeport!

Are you kidding?! Freeport is without a doubt the best city I've ever used, and I've used quite a few. Freeport was originally just a stop for the first modules in my campaign, and now I can't get my players out of it (nor do I want them too.) The book and the NPC guide have so much to offer that I could campaign in Freeport indefinately. I use the newspaper as my newsletter, I have the players commonly encounter the town politics and characters with ease. I love Freeport!

As for other cities that I have used to good effect. I really liked Tredroy for GURPS (my book, sadly, was lost when my car died years ago, alas.) I would love to see a d20 version of the Citybooks! Perhaps a best of book should be done.
