Best Current RPG Artist?

My favorite artist currently working in RPGs has got to be David Griffith. He does a lot of work for FFG and he did all of the art for Green Ronin's Hammer and Helm. Phenomenal stuff! I have only seen a few of his color works, but his B&W stuff is incredible- better than any of the color stuff WAR, Lockwood, or the current WotC atrists churn out.

A close second would be Christopher Shy. I love how evocatvie and dark his images are- there is some seriously creepy stuff by him out there. I'd love to see Cristopher shy do all the illos for demons, devils, and undead- those would be some INCREDIBLE works, and much better than what we currently have.

Larry Elmore's use of background is vastly unappriciated.

Not by me! I love his backgrounds. They're really what gives his pieces their strength IMO (although his detail on figures is great too, obviously :) ).

So I'd have to give my vote to Elmore, although Todd Lockwood is a very close second. To be honest with every new piece Mr. Lockwood releases he climbs closer to being my favourite. I think eventually I'll just have to put those guys in a tie for my favourite artist. ;)

Other than those two, WAR, Brom, Mike Whelan and William O'Conner are some of my other favourites (although there are many many great artists out there).

Hey everyone...longtime fan, firstime post...

Brom and DiTerzilli are great, yeah. I think the Planescape stuff is some of the best art in a product line. It really gave the setting a unique flavor...fit it perfect. There's a couple good pics in the Midnight campaign book too, but i forget the artist...i'll have to check. It's short like Brom...Groz or something?

ANyone like Frank Cho? He does liberty medows comic strip, but he's got some great pulp drawings (like naked ladies riding dinosaurs, killer gorillas, etc). I think he'd be great at D&D art, though I've never seen him draw anything specifically D&D. It can't be too far from tarzan and dinosaurs to knights and dragons, right? SOmeone give that man some money! I'm sure he's got a website...

I'm a big Wayne Reynolds fan, too. I loved Long's Rifts stuff, I miss seeing Valerie Valusek's work (she did all the "Volo's Guide" art)...

Oh, there're just so many. :)
