Wow, tough call. If I was playing a guardian fighter, I'd probably pick Dragonborn. Breath marking is just about priceless. I like Goliaths but I'd rather be battlerager than guardian with a Goliath. Dwarves would be my other potential choice, but they are too good at being tempests or brash striking greatweapon fighters. But their defensive abilities are unmatched. Can't be pushed, hard to knock down, great opportunity and combat challenge attacks, second wind as a minor, and dwarven durability make them hard to beat. Even their paragon paths work well for a guardian fighter. I'm voting dwarf.

Goliath's racial power is good. And so as Dwarf's. Still, I vote for Human mainly because +1 to all NADs.
.
I get the impression Goliaths paragon path is good and at heroic tier the race is bland as mash potatos without gravy or butter. -- some Goliath fan ought to call me on this?

OK something positive... yes Dwarves are cool they even evoke Norse mythic dwarves fairly well, they make too good of Battleragers for my blood and are largely responsible for the gimping of that build.

Wow I am having difficulties being positive...

No love for the Half-Orc?

That Dex bonus is pretty big for a sword & board fighter, IMO. It buffs their Reflex defense, too. Their racial abilities fit in pretty well, too - +2 speed on a charge to get out in front of your allies, +1[W] 1/encounter, and free temp HPs at bloodied.

I underestimated them until I gave them a shot.

Oh, and humans rock for this purpose, too - I just think Half-Orcs deserve a little credit here. :)

Human is my choice here, followed by Half-Orc.

The extra feat is just neat, and opens options like multiclassing and Fighting Style feats (like those that offer extra abilities for Cleave).

I feel pretty unoriginal here, but dwarf just screams guardian fighter to me. Second wind as a minor action, resistance to forced movement, good racial feats, and bonuses to two important ability scores for fighters (though not the primary).

Human and dragonborn are close, though.

Most definitely humans rock the socks Arena Fighting is way fun.. and the Fighter having a decent number of cool at-wills also seem a good reason....Humans may well be the funnest race independent of other measures of best.

Hmm, so far it looks like dwarf is going to be hard to beat.

The polls to date have generally gotten around 100+ votes before seeing the voting drop off to one or two stragglers. That means there's roughly another fifty votes that could swing the poll away from dwarves.

Still, I think it's pretty much a given the dwarf is going to win this one. A dwarven guardian fighter... let's call him Tordek! :D
