"At 90th level, you are the poo, and everyone needs to take a big whiff. You are a big-baller and a shot-caller. Act like it."

Jason Nelson-Brown, my nostrils still burn from the Dr. Pepper that shot out of them.

*lol*

That was actually a really cool article. I've never played epic D&D before, so it's interesting to hear a take on how the game ought ta run up in tha stratosphere.

You can almost hear legions of EN Worlders typing that into their sig files right now.

Although, there's another part of that that I don't quite get:

There are only so many epic, psuedonatural barbarian/blackguard half-dragon akutenshai vampire balor paragons they can throw at you, right?

I must not be up to date on my rules-fu, because I'm not sure what an "akutenshai" is.

As a coincidence, just before I switched over this forum, I finished reading...

Voila! (Kevin Siembieda has) finally got Rifts Greenland in the bag and off to the printer. And all it took was him not sleeping for a week (...), telling a fresh freelancer to go take a hike, calling up his other workers to say that somehow this might be his best work yet, executing a slapdash layout job, recycling artwork and telling himself over and over again that nobody does it like than he does. In that regard, he's dead on, because 1985 ended way back in NINETEEN EIGHTY #&@%ING FIVE.

You know, I think the real lesson of the WotC article is (and the author doesn't say it, but he seems to be thinking it...) that Epic gets kind of silly at a certain point. 40th level is one thing, but 90th? Why bother with dice when you have a +70 to hit? I think that's the level where you become a sandworm and rule Dune for 5000 years because, let's face it, what else is there to do?

I think that... "Impose a universal Common language and common system of coinage for the whole world … oh, wait, D&D already has that." ...was my personal favorite line in that article.

"you get super-extra-mega-ultra-double-killed if you fail a save at those levels."

Was my favorite line. Becasue at those levels it just may take super-extra-mega-ultra-double-killing to actually die.
