Best way to kill a dragon?

Keep in mind that Dragon Bile has a Craft DC of 30. Oh, and if you have no problem with a an Alchemy or Craft:Poison check of 30, it should take you only about four months to craft a single dose.

That is if you're playing with the normal D&D rules, of course. With your DM, I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it in two minutes with a DC of 15.

How on earth do you come up with 4 months to craft one dose of the poison. one dose cost 1500 gold.

To craft a magic item it takes 1 day per 1 thousand gp.

So according to what you said, it takes one day per 12.5 gold to craft one dose of poison, thats just plain riduculos. Anyone making a living as a poison crafter would be homeless.
Please post some proof to this 4 month for one dose method.

Standard Craft rules... The amount of progress per week is equal to your Craft check times the DC in silver pieces.

DC to craft Dragon Bile is 30. I assumed you have a Craft:Poison (or Alchemy) skill of 20. Taking 10, that's a check result of 30. 30 x 30 = 900 sp or 90 gp/week. 1500/90 = 16.7 weeks, or 3.8 months.

Yes, this is ridiculously slow (my DM lets me get away with silverpieces per day), but that's the standard rules. Regardless of what house rules you use for this, I think allowing you to craft something like Dragon Bile poison in less than a day (even less than a week) would be highly unbalancing!

Also keep in mind that you have a 5% chance of poisoning yourself when you apply the poison to a weapon, and when you fumble on an attack roll you must make a Reflex roll to avoid poisoning yourself as well.

BTW, Dragon Bile isn't *that* great against a dragon. It does 3d6 Str, but a dragon has Strength to spare. And one dose is only good for one attack. Even if you get several doses, manage to coat the weapons and attack the dragon without poisoning yourself, and do enough Str damage to reduce the dragon to zero, it'll still blast you to bits magically.

PS: just to top it off... have you had a look at the saves an Ancient Red gets? Fort +28! It'll laugh at dragon bile poison!

Str 0 isn't death, it's no movement at all.

Dragonic Spell casting is a pain.

And let's not forget, Ancient Reds have 9 feats that aren't even listed in their block, including access to their Automatic Quicken.

0 str means it is unable to move and helpless. But the dragon can still cast still spells and use its spell-like abilities. Only with con 0 you are dead.

Oh the joy, my computer ! At least alive again!!! :)

Anything reduce to 0 str is dead, lol. How on earth is it going to blast me with magic?

A creature reduced to 0 str is helpless on the ground, but his mind is still active so any ability not dependant of his moves (like a lot of spell-like abilities) and spells using the Still/Silent Spell metamagics are usable.

Perhaps a poison attacking Cha, the worst mental ability of the Red Dragons is better suited, but I can't see any poison effective vs a creature with a +23 For Save...

Oh BTW how did you manage to become an Arcane Trickster with only 3 rogues lv? The prerequisite require some rogue exclusive skills at rank 7 if I remember.

Its a House rule that my DM has enforced, and it is stated specifically in a previous post on this thread.

And before you ask, another house rule is I get the 7d6 sneak attack instead of 5d6. Its also in a above post.
