BIG DAMN HEROES - a d20 Firefly Campaign [OOC]

I'm having a bit of a problem with the gear pdf on my computer.

Really? What sort of problem? Is your version of Acrobat up to date?

Anyway, I was wondering what the ship had in the way of mechanical and electrical tools, if any?

Again, the ships stores are in a bit of a state - nothing's been restocked in some time. Lets assume that should you chose to rely on the ships supply of tools that you will take a -2 on any Craft (mechanical), Craft (electronic), and Repair checks.

However, Baxter and Helsinki have been aboard together for some time and could go in together on any such purchases, if you like.

Okay, so the current disposition of the future crew is thus:

Aboard the Longshanks: Cash, Baxter, Helisinki, and Bastion

Captain's Crew: Kai and Win

Looking for work: Mel

Is that correct?

Also: there will be opportunities to rename the ship, so if "Longshanks" doesn't ring your bell, you might start rolling around ideas in the back of your head.

Mel's status could be aboard the ship, if she were hired on before the captain lost her...or she could be currently looking for work. It all depends on where in the story we catch up with her. I've no real preference, so feel free to work her into the opening however works best for the game's plot.

Renaming...would be good. Nothing against "Longshanks," but it lacks a certain...poetry. :)

Alright, I started crunching wealth numbers last night, and it looks like Win is probably going to have to drop the heavy assault rifle. But that'll be okay...I'll just have to kill somebody and take theirs! :D

I should have Win completely updated tonight.

Also, I vote against the name "Longshanks."

I'm going to have to push the start of the game back a few hours... possibly until 5pm.

It's been a busy morning and I haven't had the time to polish the first post. It'll be up sometime this afternoon.

Important NPCs:

Captain Terry Meade - Captain of the Longshanks
Elliot Beale - Chief Engineer of the Longshanks
Naomi Oba - Pilot of the Longshanks

Items of note:
[SBLOCK=Crew of the Longshanks]
The ship's been having a string of bad luck lately, and no one's been paid in more than a month.

There are slightly less than two tons of fuel left in the tanks. The tanks will hold 80 tons total, and it's a miracle the ship didn't run dry on route to Persephone.

Rations are down to protein, and not much of that.

The only profit in the last few months has come in the form of Bastion's rent. But if the ship keeps headed in this direction, it surely won't be much longer before he finds other accomodations.

The Captain and Oba left together after collecing the fee for cargo brought to Persephone. They were meant to be arranging a refueling. That was three days ago.

The ship currently has a number of potentially serious mechanical problems. Working with the two of you, Beale has been keeping her flying by cobbling together broken parts and jury-rigging temporary fixes. Key areas of concern are:

1. The Compressor Coil on the engine housing has developed fractures. You keep rewelding it, but it won’t last forever. If it breaks, the engine and the ship stops dead. A used one from a scrapyard would cost C250 but would only take a few minutes to replace. A new, higher grade Coil would cost C750 but last a lifetime.

2. The Intake Manifold on the port outboard thruster has been losing efficiency of late due to corrosion on the pipes which you can’t get at. Oba has had to compensate when flying in atmosphere for this. It is possible that pieces of the corrosion could break off in atmospheric flight and foul the thruster. This would probably result in a sudden collision with the ground and a firey death for everyone aboard. A new Intake Manifold would take a day to install and cost C500.

3. The electrical systems on the ship are showing their age and this results in power fluctuations and even caused a brownout during rough maneuvers. Beale keeps replacing sections of wire and patch panels, but he really needs fresh high capacity line to rewire key stretches. It would take 2-3 days of downtime and about C150 of supplies.

[SBLOCK=Cash]
Supplies in the infimary haven't been a priority for the Captain of late. Whatever is there has come from your own personal stash.
[/SBLOCK]
[SBLOCK=Bastion]
The accomodations have been a bit less accomodating of late than you might like. In fact, the captain seems to have been running things into the ground, and the crew seem thoroughly demoralized.

Hmmm... apparently we have a few busy players. I'm going to wait for a couple more people to post before advacing the IC thread.
