Bioshock

There's always the Xbox 360 version...

True, but I don't have a 360 and don't have any plans to buy one anytime soon. So far, nothing on any of the next-gen consoles has managed to grab my interest. I'll wait for some more price drops and take another look, but for now, Bioshock alone isn't enough to warrant a purchase for me.

Yeah, if you're gonna get it, get the 360 version. There's rootkits in all versions, even the demo they released. http://www.gametab.com/news/1017115/

Bad form all over. And 2k's only response was to up the install limit to 5. There shouldn't even be a limit in the first place. It's ridiculous.

Ken Levine has said that, after a period of time, 2K will be removing the install limits all together. It's going to stay in only during the hottest months of the game's release, when the desire to pirate is at its highest.

Well Ron, I'm not sure what you mean by forcing evil acts. The most morally gray act - harvesting the little sisters is actually optional. There is another path and you are rewarded in the story for taking it. It also presents a different challenge for the player. The "evil way" is easier in many respects.

Regarding the "evil way" being easier, it isn't really. SPOILERS follow....

If you harvest the Little Sisters, you get 160 Adam. If you save them, you get 80 Adam, and then a 200 Adam bonus every 3 you save (along with a couple other gifts). From a pure Adam resource standpoint, you're losing 13.333 Adam per Little Sister. This amounts to nothing over the course of the game. And, again spoilers here, the game has a Good and Bad ending. If you harm the Sisters, even if you don't harm the majority of them, you get the Bad ending and have to replay the entire game to see the Good one. Meanwhile you can probably spare them all, saving before the last one, get the Good ending, revert to your save, harvest the last Sister, and get the bad ending.

It annoys me a little bit, since it takes effectively takes the weight out of your choices and, I feel, doesn't reflect an appropriate level of sacrifice to be "good".

Could you put the spoilers behind a spoiler tag?

I'm liking it a lot so far, and I hadn't planned to like it. I bought it for work research, because if everyone is gonna be saying, "Let's do _____, like they do in BioShock!", it helps to have played BioShock. :)

Its not a rootkit (it does not hide itself from the system, its just poorly installed), but it is still a kludge as it does not work properly a good portion of the time.

The thing is, that is a poor system as it 1) Punishes legitimate buyers when the software is defective and 2) does not stop dedicated pirates. It does stop the lazy ones (the ones that don't use google :)) Doesn't help with the poor press now, either.

I don't have the game yet, but I played the 360 demo, and it was awesome. Very, very atmospheric, creepy. Pretty good graphics and excellent sound.

I didn't get too far into the story, because the demo really doesn't get into much more than the basics in the game. But for the duration that it lasted, it was a very intense game.

Banshee

I've finished the game. The ending was short, but sweet, and actually brought tears to my eyes.

It's the first game that has EVER pulled an emotional response out of me like that.

(P.S. A couple of celebrities on this site worked on the game)

I love the game, but I am happy to bought it for the 360, because I would have not accepted the need for the limited Activation (seems more and more games do this)! :(
