Bioshock

I'm sure it is. I'm roleplaying "guy who doesn't want to use vita chambers".

I did like the game's level of resource management. I was wandering around going, "Man, I can't even PICK UP any more first aid kits. I'm completely loaded down with... uh-oh..."

And when the Big Daddy fight was over, I had 2 left, and I got to wander back through areas where I'd been turning up my nose at first aid kits...

I don't want to know about cracking DVDs but its the only way I can get a VHS copy of a movie so that my kids can watch it in the play room while my wife and I watch something else.
Dude, a DVD player can be hand for under $30, and probably well worth the time you save...

This is the first FPS game I've been interested in in a long time. But the DRM issues are turning me off.

And don't tell me to get the 360 version, because I don't have a 360.

Try out the demo. Played it. Deleted it. No probs with my rig.

If by "no probs" you mean that you don't care that the demo installed software on your PC without telling you and that it's still there even after you uninstall, then sure, the game is fine.

This is what really bothers me...
Worse is that we are moving to accepting it.

You are absolutely right. But thats not really the point is it. As I said before, our culture is "just take it".

There was no rootkit installed on my machine with the demo. I went to start the process of deleting it the other day and it was no where to be found.

Others have reported the same thing.

So maybe we're worried about nothing? That would be nice. I'm not technical enough to know if there is or not though.

Does it install anything that could be considered "underhanded"? The full game does install SecureRom permanently though right?

I'd love to get the game but I want to be sure I'm not signing up with Big Brother.

It was confirmed a WHILE ago that Securon is NOT a rootkit. This info is nothing new.

However, it does get installed on your PC without telling you (including in the demo) and it is NOT removed if you uninstall the game. Regardless, this practice is just bad practice and certainly bad for the consumer.

If this doesn't bother you, then fine, but it should. If it does, do some research. This is a good place to start:

I've played a lot of videogames. While I'm not a big fan of first-person shooters, BioShock is definitely on my list of best games of all time. The plot is unbelievably good, and the game is beautiful (especially to the ears). The fact the this thread can't seem to rise above the relatively puny DRM issues is kind of sad.

I personally went with the XBox 360 version. Worked great for me.
