This is my preferred method for playing and GMing, especially for D&D. It doesn't work for story games, but those are different anyways.

Computer games I always play this way. I think most people do. I don't really know anyone who goes to the trouble to crack them and read their programming code prior to play. I trust the ratings and descriptions of the game and enjoy them for what they are. Or not. It depends.

Ummm, it's quite easy to find an FAQ or online board where people have figured out the math equations/game systems/whatever of almost any game that exists...

I'm collecting players for my in person experiment of this approach.

I'm thinking I'm going to start with a sci-fi one shot using MiniSix.

APG: Mini Six

I played a lot of WEG Starwars d6 and think I'll be able to handle three or four character's worth of stats if I use the streamlined mini-six approach.

And I think I'm going to generate a subsector of space using the appropriate sections in Stars Without Number

Stars Without Number (eBook) by Kevin Crawford (eBook) - Lulu

I'll report back whenever this actually happens (could be a few weeks).
