And congrats, rjs. You really got my attention with Book of Fiends -- you're a game designer to watch, as far as I'm concerned.

And I mean that in a good way... ;)

Thanks! :)

If they ordered it, your FLGS should have the book by the 21st, I got mine early at a big concention.

Chapter 10: Magic is not Open Gaming Content, sorry.

Wish it was as I can see it being useful in a host of different game worlds. :-)

Just one question since my FLGS doesn't have the book...

Is the magic system OGC?

Thanks,

That chapter, if it's feats and skills based, not being OGL, that's ... funky. No matter. I'm working off the ideas in Pyschich's Handbook and M&M anyway.

Hrm. I think the choice to not make that OGL is unfortunate. Not that I was planning on producing any content with it, but more that I like to make sure that what I'm working with CAN be. Sort of dampens my interest, as I wasn't going to buy the book to run a Black Company game, but to dismantle it for my own game.

Well, I think Green Ronin has given the world so much OGC that they can feel free to select a few sections to keep closed. After all, most GR books are 100% OGC.

You are 100% correct and we aren't begruding them or any other publisher that wishes to keep some content closed, in fact I am quite amazed with some of the stuff publishers do release. I was just hoping parts of it were OGC since I am working on something similar using the spell seeds in the SRD to replace the current "fire and forget" system.

I'm not sure it is feats and skills based. I mean, there's still a wizard class, and in the books no one other than a wizard really cast spells did they?

Yeah, as I understand if, "feats" in that sentence should almost be replaced with "class abilities."

Well, you still can, you know. OGC really only matters if you intend to publish something.
