BLEB1: Beer Run (stonegod - Designated Driver)

Khoros has always been nocturnal, and when he sees the fire, he is already wide awake. "Great. It starts again." He mutters.

Down in his cabin Kenn is getting ready for bed.
A flicker of light appears through the porthole. Peering out, he sees the fire in the distance.

"Uh-oh."
He starts tucking his shirt back in.

"Looks like our paladin gets to be a hero again."

He hurries on his clothes before taking another look out the porthole, hoping to see what's going on a little better.

Kenn's spot check (1d20+6=19)

Rio will make sure his armor is on and his gear is properly adjusted, and then head up to the deck to see this fire for himself.

He will try to learn whether the fire is on a distant ship (suggesting possible pirate activity) or on some body of land (with many possibilitied.)

Mardigan rolls out of bed, upon hearing this and starts getting his armor back on, then he head to the deck." Well, at least I got four hours tonight..."

As you move closer, the fire is nearly finished consuming a ship that looks very much like the one you are on. It is charred, and debris is floating all around it, some burning, others extinguished as it fell into the water. Under the light of the boat and the fire, you can see a few bodies, some bloodied, but none alive among the wreckage.

"That's the other ferry," the captain says. "Helmsman, stear away from this quickly. The extra light makes us a target for an ambush."

Kenn's nostrils flare as the smoke hits them.
Fire on a boat is always bad.

But it looks like the flames are out now and the lifeboats sunk or picked up: better the crew handle it than him.

Then he stiffens as he sees blood in the water.
That never came from a fire. That's knifework.

Kenn grabs his weapons and heads for the upper deck.

"Bloody boats. Just once I'd like to be on a boat and not have everything go violently wrong..."

He feels better when he sees Rio on deck and armed.

"Interesting evening, paladin. Come back by the pilot house, why don't you? The light's better for our complexions."
A disinterested observer notice the light by the pilot house is not so much light as it is shadow, or concealment.

Rio considers the request odd, but will follow Kenn after a cursory glance at his aura. Unless, of course, the aura is an evil one... too many creatures can disguise themselves as friends, and Rio doesn't want to follow a skinchanger into a place ripe for ambush.

The ship pulls away from the wreckage, spotting no survivors near. The ship's crew is on extra alert and extra eyes on the water in all direction, but the rest of the journy is uneventful, and it's early morning when you arive at your destination.
