"Let's go investigate, someone may need help." Rio suggests. He hops out of the cart, draws his Greatsword and shakes off any aches and pains from sitting in the cart. He checks to see if anyone is following him right before heading to the smoke.

ooc: Rio has a +8 handle animal, should that come up again.

Kenn shakes himself and sneezes.
"Bother." he remarks sotto voce.
"Someone had better provide a foil to his heroic nobility."

Wrapping himself tightly in his coat, he slips over the side of the cart and trails Rio like a twig-crunching shadow.
Hide/Move Silently (1d20 6=20, 1d20 6=9)

With the shifter staying behind to keep an eye on the cart, the group moves cautiously to top of the next hill. The source of the smoke is soon clear---a hovel, mostly lost to flames, in the midsts of a small valley. Considering that settlement has been few and far between, likely due to the still sparse population after the War and the Karrnathi plagues, the chance of you coming upon it are fortuitous---or less so, perhaps.

From his perch on the hill, Rio (who arrives first) sees no sign of movement. Kenn, arriving shortly after but less obviously, does see what appears to be boots or legs from a body in the soon to be smoldering ruin's door.

Kenn taps Rio on the shoulder and points out the legs.
"I think you're about to rescue your very first fair maiden. Better shake a leg."
He lets Rio get a lead on recovery or rescue while he concentrates -- and suddenly he casts an inch-thick shadow in all directions.
(Activate inertial armor)
Drawing his crossbow, he eases down the hill after Rio, ready to provide cover fire or backup.

Rio wonders if there's any party of this statement that isn't dubious, but he does move forward to investigate further. As he does so, he will scan the area for evil, expecting some sort of ambush.

Madigan, drawing flail and shield, walks forward with the group. Well well, the hero, the anti-hero, and the rich-brat walking into smoldering ruins. What a scene our trio makes!!

Fritz, seeing that everyone else is leaving, hops out of the cart and begins to walk in the same direction being sure to keep an eye on Khuther.

"Can I be the rich brat?" requests Kenn.
"I've never been rich before..."

Mardigan quips back at him Sure, being rich isnt everything you know. In the end life still sucks and those you ove still die while you are powerless to save them...poor Neiza

Mardigan trails off a bit, reality setting in on him a moment. He then shakes it off Righty-O check out the smoke.
