Blindsight vs. Displacement?

SoulStorm

First Post
Would Blindsight negate the benefits of Displacement? My guess would be that it would, but Blindsight is starting to seem even more uber than I originally thought it was, which was pretty uber. How effective would Blindsight be against other illusions? Mirror Image is another spell which seems to be completely negated by Blindsight.

My Monk 2/Paladin 2 will Become a Sacred Fist at 7th level and will have Blindsight at 12th. I want the ability to be as effective as it was meant to be without being over the top.

Are there any clear guidelines on what Blindsight can and can't do?

Thanks for the help,

Displacement is a Glamer, which "changes a subject's sensory qualities", presumably including Blindsight.

Blindsight is detailed in the DMG.

[Edit]
OTOH, the displacement of a Displacer Beast is bypassed with Blindsight, as that states that other means than sight are not fooled.
But strictly reading just the spell description I'd say Blindsight does not help.

Yes, blindsight would help. Displacement is a purely visual effect. Treating it otherwise results in the odd situation where someone with blindsight was affected, but someone who simply closed their eyes and fought blind wasn't.

Closing your eyes against someone displaced is a dumb tactic.
You still have a 50% miss chance and lose your dex bonus and others get +2 to hit you, etc. That is, you gain no benefit, but loose a lot.

I didn't say it had to be a smart tactic. It still negates the effect of displacement (albeit substituting full concealment instead).

It is not dumb if you have the blind fighing feat

Well, blind-fight just lets you reroll your miss chance any time you miss because of concealment, so you still wouldn't have to close your eyes.

You've got to be careful here -- the "subject" is the displaced person and how they appear visually. There's no implication that someone else's Blindsight is in any way disrupted by the spell (the target is the "creature touched", not people looking at the creature touched).

Logic: Displacement bends light. It does not bend sound, scent, or anything else used for Blindsight.

Silence, another Illusin, negates sound. It does not negate other senses. Many glamers only affect one sense.

I think Blindsight for PCs might be overpowered, but that's just my opinion.

I'd hate to a mage being full-attacked by a Hasted dragon (Haste? How else does the dragon get the full attack on me?) I can buff my AC really high, and the dragon can still afford to Power Attack. Displacement, Mirror Image, Mislead, Deeper Darkness... none of these things work.
