[Bo9S] Jade Phoenix mage ouchies

"That spell grease is so broken!"

But seriously, 30k gp vs. a feat (Quicken Spell), at least three levels of 1/2 BAB, d4 hp, and poor skills, and two Initiator Levels. At 20th level, the 30k gp looks cheap, no?

Hey, I didn't say it was BAD. And while 30k may be cheap at 20th, I could potentially have got it at 15th... where it's not quite so cheap.

Besides, I'm not saying the JPM is crazy-broken or anything, just that I only now noticed this.

Ah, okay. :) I thought the "ouch!" was shorthand for "teh b0rkenz0rz!!1" ... but agree it's a darn good tactic.

"Divinations are ... underpowered, you say?" ;)

LOL. Some follow ups:

"I see your future. It's there, and there (points up), and over in the corner there..."

"I see your future. All of it. If you want to see it all too, don't blink this round."

I just realised that all JPMs (except those who took sorc levels, HAW HAW) will eventually be able to get both quickened true strike AND diamond nightmare blade, should they choose to do so.

Ouch!
I thought Quickening strike worked for sorcerers too...?

Nope, metamagic applied to spontaneous casting increases casting time by 1 step (minimum full-round action, IIRC), which makes Quicken Spell truly useless for Sorcerers, Favored Souls, Warmages, and any and all other non-preparation casters.

I thought one of the complaints of Wraithstrike (ie touch attacks) was that it is so good, you don't even need True Strike. If you have DNB (especially at your level), chances are you will only miss on a roll of a 1 anyway, which True Strike won't help with.

"I Power Attack for 15, which is 30 extra damage ... times four." That's the benefit of Quickened True Strike. ;)

Right (as silly as that is).

But the Jade Phoenix mage has a class ability that lets you hit someone with a martial strike, and then your next spell is quickened. It's not quite clear if this includes the extended casting time for sorcs, but my impression is that it doesn't.
