Bob Worldbuilder debunks the Daggerheart license “scandal”

Yes. There’s a reason it wasn’t covered on this news site. This video is also clickbait. The “scandal” is manufactured. The “debunking” of the scandal is manufactured. It’s all non-news.

But it gets all the clicks.

My clicks are manufactured. Just sayin'.

If it’s any comfort, it’s not just D&D. Any subculture or fandom on YouTube is exactly the same.
I have an essentially drama-free feed, but it took years. I’ve got a mix of horror & related book reviewers, marine biologists, astronomers and a few non-scientist explainers, electronic music makers, and so on. All of these can and have erupted into stupid feuds, but I focused on the ones who didn’t.

Whilst I concur, and big respect for intentionally not covering because you correctly judged it "non-news", I will say that in this era, sad though it might be, it is kind of useful to have videos like this, however manufactured, to point people to, because for whatever reasons, it seems like the same people most prone to panic from fearmongering are also prone to prefer video explainers rather than to be interested in anything else. Sign of the times, maybe.

My Instagram feed is 99% marine biology and it's so soothing to open the app and see nothing but videos of migrating hammerheads.

I'm just the reverse. I swim in political waters, and I'm honestly amused when my hobby channels get as charged up as those. I do hobby stuff to escape anger for a little while, and fortunately most of the time I can.

With the astronomers, in recent years there’s been a lot of “look at this just in from James Webb/Bera Ruin/wtc - we have no idea what it is! Isn’t this great?” They glow and quiver with excitement. It is great.

Outrage Culture has become part of the norm.

Being loud about about an issue on social media is currently a proven way to make money.
Whether or not the issue is real has little influence on either the volume or the monetization.
