So the first session of Conan: Dark Thuria is coming up this Friday...(for anyone interested, run a search for the tiny li'l thread on RPG.net where I describe the game; for those that're too lazy, DT is essentially pre-Cataclysm, set on the Thurian continent and adding a bit of Lovecraft and FFG's Midnight in, with Yig standing in for Izrador. shake well, swallow quickly.)...and I'm working on the gods. So far we have:
The Atlantean Pantheon
Based off of some elemental symbolism and other semi-related bits. Called by the Atlanteans the Four Rudders and the Keel.
Valka: also called Nodens in later days, Valka is the supreme diety of the Atlantean pantheon. Valka is the Keel, that which guides.
Honen: the Opener of the Way, associated with the north wind.
Holgar: Guide to the Lands Above and Below. Sun god, kind of like Ra. Associated with the western wind.
Hotath: the Dweller Amongst the Gods. Scribe god, like Horus. Associated with the eastern wind.
Helfara: the Governor. Sole goddess among the pantheon, ruler of the dark lands beneath the living sea. Associated with the southern wind. Think Isis.
Pagan, Barbarian and Unassociated Gods
Various unassociated gods and goddesses. Not neutral, but generally more primitive/aboriginal types. Valka is often associated with these in a more aboriginal form, but is also part of the Atlantean pantheon, obviously.
Sheela-na-Gig: blatantly stolen from Pagan's Golden Dawn sourcebook. Savage pagan fertility goddess. AKA Shub-Niggurath.
Mordiggian: Ghoulish charnel god.
Ibis: AKA Daoloth. Fairly neutral/inoffensive god type, works with a priesthood, granting spells and educating the faithful in the workings of the universe. Don't open your eyes, though.
Crom Cruach: called Crom after the Cataclysm, this figure is a legendary demigod, a la Heracles. Essentially a powered down version of Crom from the Conan mainbook.
The Dark Gods
Yeah, they're the bad guys, and how. Revel in human sacrifice, congress and conversation with demons...you know, the guys that Conan was always wanting to jack up.
The Great Serpent: AKA Yig. Worshipped by the Serpent Men and their thralls, worship of the Great Serpent is the 'officially' sanctioned Thurian religion. Lots of snakey symbology, drugged incense in the temples, virgin sacrifice...
The Black Shadow: Master of demons, may or may not be a powerful demon itself. Lives at the bottom of a lot of stairs. Might be the Black Pharoah incarnation of Nyarlathotep. Ooga booga.
The Great Scorpion: a big, jewelled scorpion. Uh, not much on this one, other than it being evil.
Glakki: zombie-making anemone/sea urchin/turtle-ish thing from Beyond the Stars. Secret worship, looking to make yet more undead.
So here's the challenge - someone or several someones, help me come up with the basic dogma and rituals associated with these folks? Doesn't have to be anything extensive, but I'd like it to have the appropriate flavor.
