Brawler class?

I'm looking at making a barbaric half-orc brawler. Is there a class out there (in any of the expansions etc.) that has something like the monk's unarmed damage progression without all of the goofy magical abilities?

Something designed to be unarmored or lightly armored would also be a big bonus. I had first thought to try this as a fighter but giving up the armor seemed a bad idea, and I could not find a way to get the monk-like damage with his fists (and feet, knees, etc.).

Well, the Defender class might be what you're looking for. It shares certain features with the Monk, but without a lot of the "goofy magical abilities." It's from Midnight, 2nd Edition.

If you are playing in FR, there's a prestige class in Unapproachable East called Shou Disciple (?) that concentrates on martial arts, and leaves out the aescetic aspect of the monk.

The shou disciple is a sweet class.

There is a prestige class in complete warrior that uses lots of chokes and pins, and general grappling. There may be one more unarmed class in there as well, but I can't remember right now.

There is a feat in the agot campaign setting called beyond your station that lets you lose class features to gain bonus skill points or feats based on the magnitude of what you lose. If your gm would let you, you could give up the med and heavy armors, and some weapon proficiencies to gain some feats. That setting also has Knockout Punch which allows you to insta KO unaware opponents,, and a 2 or 3 tiered unarmed feat tree to let you get your damage up to d8

The world of warcraft campaign setting has a feat that lets you stun opponents with bludgeoning weapons, but deal no damage. So stun them, then unload with you two-weapon fighting ownage.

I think there is a feat somewhere called 1-2 punch or follow-up punch that lets you knock in some free attack if they're unarmed.

Sorry that this stuff is spread out in weird settings, but that's all I got.

ps. I made an unarmed fighter a long time, if i can find him I'll report back

Try a Monk-Ranger with the Ascetic Hunter feat.

there are two in the complete warrior. reaping mauler and drunken master. the drunken master gets some pretty good stuff, its a 10 level PrC, and the reaping mauler is a 5 level PrC, theyre both pretty fun. the reaping mauler gets more, but it would definatly require more of a strength based character than a drunken master.
both PrC's are in the complete warrior.

I offer these as Fighter feats. (shortened due to typing laziness)
