Squinting past Eanos, Mordik asks quietly, Eanos, is that a dropoff? Argh! Lemme get a rope ready to climb down the rest of the way. I dun like the idea of walking through this place with a twisted ankle or worse.

Eanos looks up to the dwarf.

"The drop isn't actually that far for me; I can use the wall to slow myself. If you have a grapple for your rope, Mordik, I can tie it down from below; we'll be less likely to have you fall trying to tie a knot that way, I'd think."

Mordik grunts an affirmative and takes his rope&grappling hook out of his pack, hooking it to the bottom rung of the ladder.

To Odno he adds: I dunna see a way to lower yeh. Bu' dunna worry, you'll have a Human and a Dwarf to break yer fall! and snickers slightly.

"Climbing a rope that is braced against a wall should be sufficiently simple that I can manage, I hope," Aletheia nods resolutely, ready to try the climb when her turn comes along.

In response to Aletheia's outburst before, Quarion quietly says, "All things must be balanced. Were it not for devils, there could be no angels. Were it not for destruction, there could be no creation. I have no problem dealing with devilish imps, especially if it allows us to defeat a greater evil or sanctify a tainted druidic temple."

Quarion, rather than lower Garma into the tunnel, excuses himself for a moment to ferry the wolf back across the chasm. The elf bids his friend goodbye for now and tells him to stay nearby.

After that is finished, he's ready to head down into the depths.

OOC: The 640 XP puts Quarion over 6000, to 4th level. I'll submit the higher level this weekend, but I won't put it into effect just yet.

Thanks for waiting for me, guys!

ooc: the climb down isn't very hard since you can all take 10 on it. You can't, however, brace against a wall since the hole opens in the middle of a room.

One by one you climb down form the rope into the room below. Here you find yourself in a pentagonal room. Each wall is about 20 by 20 feet and depicts. Four of the five walls have a stone door while the fifth door depicts a large fresco.
The fresco depicts something that seems like a great battle between devils, demons and animals, all fighting eachother.

Odno examines the floor with attention. "This is very interesting - whatever this place might be, we should continue looking for clues lke this before making a definitive judgement"

ooc: Just to be sure, is the battle in the fresco a three way battle (everyone against everyone), or do the animals side with devils against the demons?

Someone: It seems that all three factions are fighting each other: devils against demons, animals against demons and animals against devils.

Eanos frowns.

"Looks like there are more options than we thought," he says as he studies the fresco.

He turns to the others. "Anyone have insights into the direction we should choose? I'm inclined to say the decorated door, but perhaps I'm distracted by shiny things," he says. "In case we have to come back here in a hurry, perhaps Mordik should check them all for traps now? This seems like a good place to lose a pursuit, assuming we won't trip a lethal trap in the course of it."
