Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

Rystil Arden said:
"Oh, it's been so long, but didn't Lord Graven say that he already had the other half of it?"

'He also said that this half was guarded by a nefarious and evil creature that would lie its ass off to keep the amulet from leaving here, so obviously one of the two of them is lying anyway...'

OOC: Exactly why we need to talk amongst ourselves, away from tall dark and feathery.

(OOC: Oh, I know and so does Ally. She just isn't going to say that out loud. She may be into helping people fulfill their dreams, but she's not ditsy, even if her demeanour seems a bit that way at times ;))

Quarion suddenly begins to speak in the ancient druidic tongue... "
Guardian, if the words you speak are true, then I am your ally. Demons and devils belong on their own planes, and what has been done to the creatures on the surface is foul. Is there a way to return them to their natural state? Is there anything within my power that could remove the blight on this land?
"

[Sblock=Quarion's Motives]Quarion is not sure that this guardian is telling the truth, but if it is, then his words are true.[/sblock]

"Many of the wards where designed to keep creatures of an evil demeanor at bay. Not all of those are active because only half of the amulet is present here.
The taint on these lands has greatly reduced by cleansing of the druids and the passing of time. I am afraid that the residue of the taint the is still here cannot be removed by any means within the grasp of me or you. As I said, this shrine was once the place where this evil was summoned into this plane of existance. Once the home to evil beings that sought to bring this extraplanar evil into your plane."

Then it pauses for while. It seems to be thinking over it's next words
"You say that your employer has the other half? That is very concerning. Are you sure of this? Even with only half of the amulet this person can already wield power of lesser demons and devils. It also means that the other guardian has failed."

Then it replies to Quarion in the same tongue:
[sblock=druidic]
I see that you are brother of my ancient allies. The taint on these lands cannot be easily removed. If it is true that the other half of the amulet has been recovered then it is crucial that we regain posession of it. I know that i can only trust you in full. Will you uphold the ancient vow of your brothers? Will you return the other half to this shrine? It is not the origional design to keep both halves in one location but i fear it is the safest option if the other guardian has fallen.

Eanos'sense motive:
[sblock]You believe that the guardian speaks truthfully and believes every word it says.[/sblock]

(OOC: I'll point out that even if it was an ally to druids, the creature should not be able to speak Druidic unless it actually has a level in Druid. Otherwise, whoever taught it Druidic would forevermore become an ex-Druid)

(ooc: That, or can use some sort of Tongues spell, or DM fiat. I'm not worried very much for the exact alternative)

"All things are subject to time and change, Guardian, even immortal creatures. Many things could have happened to the other keeper - and will undoubtedly happen to you, even if it's not within the span of many lifetimes of my kin. The sealing of this planar rift seem precarious, given that it relies on one piece of jewelery being in the right place. Isn't there any means of a more permanent closure?" says Odno.

(OOC: Yup, I knew it could be a magical effect, it was just interesting that Quarion chose to test it in that way ;))

"Odno's right. This does strike me as one of those cliches where the heroes of the past only sealed the evil, which was bound not to last, and now the heroes of the present have to deal with the resurgance and ending it once and for all."

Quarion continues his conversation with the guardian creature,
"The vows of my brethren are not my vows, but I will do everything in my power to bring balance to the world. If reuniting the two pieces would accelerate the healing of the land, then... then I will do my best to obtain it. My companions may not agree with my actions, so please forgive any strange behaviors I may display."
Quarion looks quizzical, then somewhat angry. To his companions he says, "I do not like this situation."

"Nor do I" says Odno. "When we accepted the mission we were significantly misled - I wasn't expecting to jeopardize he stability of a planar seal. I'd think that we should go back and explain the situation to our employer, except that my intuition says he won't understand or believe us, and much less want to offer his half of the amulet."

The guardian nods slightly at quarion and then adresses you all "If your employer already has the other half in his posession he will not rest until he also accquires this half. This is very distrubing news you bring me.

The only way to make sure he will not reunite the two pieces is to retrieve the half he already has and put a stop to him. Permanently. The fact that he already accquired one half shows that he has great power and influence. He will simply order others to come here and try to steal this half. It would be noble of you to divert from your mission and return to your employer empty handed but I fear that this will only be a temporarily solution.

He will keep trying untill he either has this half or cannot try anymore. So i beg of you, in the name of Elyssium and for the sake of your world: retrieve the other half and put a stop to the vile man."
