Break of Dawn [Manzanita judging] COMPLETED

"I think they are some of the belongings the druids of old left behind. I am unsure what thier exact purpose is. I think it might be one of the proteve items they had. If that is the case, I think that the wearers of the rings can protect eachother from harm by sharing thier pain. I do not know how they work exactly but you can keep them if you agree to help."

"I agree to see if he has the other piece, and to try to parse his motives. I promise nothing further. I've skirted close enough to the edges of my ethical code as it is. If nothing else, this errand has taught me the cost of agreeing to too much."

"Though it is unfortunate, as subterfuge seems the only option likely to succeed if the man has power over devils now from the amulet, it seems this may be the best way to proceed. I do feel worst of all for you, Eanos. Personally, I have no issue with turning against our employer if his cause be evil, and that's why I eventually accepted his commission, but the reason I even brought up this exact possibility before we accepted was for your benefit, Eanos. The consensus was that if I was right, we would re-evaluate later, but it seems like in hindsight that it didn't make you happy. That makes me sad. If you like, maybe later when we have more time and aren't in such a stressful situation, we can talk it out together and try to reevaluate your thoughts on this matter. I'm sure that there is a way to do the right thing and follow your dreams and still be the kind of person that makes you proud of yourself."

Ooc

(OOC: I'm genuinely not trying to be problematic or disruptive, so much as I'm trying to find an RP angle on this that lets Eanos stay in character--and in-alignment--while still servicing where the plot's clearly meant to be heading. Thus the duplicate amulet idea--which Eanos might be able to convince himself was technically following through on the deal--and thus his current reticence to promise anything to the guardian. I really do apologize if it's derailing things, though I think we may finally have gotten to a point where we can continue, yes?)

Quarion finally speaks up. "I think we are in agreement about one thing for certain, then. That this Guardian is not our foe, and we will not harm it. It seems to me that our only option, then, is to return to our employer. The Guardian cannot offer us any more information, so we are only wasting time by arguing back and forth." He turns to address the Guardian. "We will take these valuables, as they have nothing to do with the protective magic here. They may aid in our dealings with our employer. I, too, promise nothing more than to reevaluate the situation. Our word has been given, and that is not easily taken back. I think you understand that." Quarion nods respectfully at the Guardian, but remains firm in his decision. In druidic he adds, "
I will do everything in my power to bring the amulet back here
. Farewell, Guardian, may your vigilance be broken only by friends. If you would...?"
Quarion gestures towards the wall where there once was an opening.

ooc: i was kind of waiting for you guys, especially since Ally started something i thought that would result in a discussions between the PC's. he ball is more or less in your park at the moment, save for Quarion's words. If nobody has anything to add or react to Ally i'll pick it up from Quarion's words.

(OOC: Sorry, thought I covered that in my previous post: I think the only thing holding us up right now was my trying to find an angle that worked with Eanos' alignment / personal code, though I think it's become fairly clear that the whole situation isn't well-suited to either, so I was trying to indicate we'll just go with saying this is Eanos bending his code (no one can be strictly on-aligment all the time, after all--the occasional digression doesn't make for instant alignment changes) for the sake of keeping the story from going completely off the rails, as it were. Unless someone else has something, I think we're ready to leave.)

(ooc: Odno agreed on retrning to visit our employer and try to reach some sort of solution that doesn't involve violence. Or if 'agreed' isn't the best word, he ofered to do that; he's not keen on the idea of retrieving the amulet by force or thievery, as it's surely going to be the case)

To all present the gueardian says: "So be it then. Leave this place. I hope I will see you back with the other half of the amulet". Then he turns to Quarion and speaks to him in druidic:
[sblock=druidic]
Go brother. I will send aid. I cannot promise it will ariive in time or at all but i will try. Take the rings and use them to protect yourself.
[/sblock]
After that then guardian bows it's head slightly at you and the wall behind you opens up again. Through it you see the same room as before.
