breaking down the cost (Holy Avenger)

Okay, for my next project I need to break down the cost of a holy avenger so it can be changed and such. I'm trying to figure out how much the +2 in one person's hand and a +5 in another's hand.

Isn't there, in the DMG, some rule of thumb about enchantments that are available only to one class/alignment/whatever?

So, figure out the cost of a +2 sword. (8,000?)

Then figure out how much more a +5 holy sword costs than a +2 sword. (98,000 - 8,000? 90,000 net?)

Apply the reduction to the increased price. Add it to the cost of a +2 sword.

Figure in the costs of cold iron and a masterwork longsword.

Anything over that (such as the dispel effects) would be double-cost items, since they're secondary effects.

So what are you trying to make? All those cool Holy Avenger-variants from the Paladin's Handbook (2E)?

Man you know what I wish I had that book with me here in Bremerton but my copy is in Kansas City. :(

Also I'm not really making an new paladin only sword as it's useable by faith (Sune's FR) and not by paladinhood.

Anyhow, when I get it approved I'll make sure to post a copy here. :)

Okay it breaks like this* Note that the holy ability was forgoten during the math (so the extra would be +5 in cost and not just +3)

+2 cold iron longsword is 10,630. The extra +3 would cost another 42,000, but it gets a 30% cost break for being usable only by paladins, and is thus 29,400. Greater Dispel Magic is a 6th level spell, and so costs 6x2000 (use activated)x caster level, and the SR costs 10,000 per point over 12, so 10,000(class level -8), both with the 30% break, totaling (120,630-40030)=80,600. These abilities would then be worth 115143 without the cost break, meaning that 12,000xclass level + 10,000x(class level -8) is 115143; 22,000xclass level is 195143, and class level is considered to be 5.233, incidentally rounding to the minimum level for Craft Magic Arms and Armor.

To be honest I don't do pdf files... Besides I have a copy at home so why do I need it twice right? (Oh I probably do have a copy... It was on TSR's Core rules CD right?)
