[BTVS] Willow and Miss Calender

I've watched the first three seasons on DVD and skimmed a few episode guides about the fourth and later, so I know that after Season 3, it seems like Willow's power ramps up pretty spectacularly. One guide brought out something I never considered, but now I wonder about. At the end of Season Two, when Willow is trying to do redo the Romany curse that gave Angel his soul back, she's about to lose it, then her head snaps up and she starts chanting in perfect (what I thought at the time was) Latin. So, the episode guide says it was Romany, which of course only makes sense, and I would have realized it if I was paying closer attention. I'd always worried about that bit, though, because of the emphasis they place on magic being dangerous. I kept wondering if that would play a part in later episodes.

Then I thought of something. Maybe it was Miss Calender that possessed her; it was her spell, her language. She claims in an earlier episode that she 'doesn't have that kind of power' when asked if she's a witch, but.. she's been known to lie.

Any ideas? Sound correct? Does that become a plot point later?

MINOR SEASON 7 SPOILER AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Hmmm, an interesting Willow question.

Until this week's ep of Buffy I would have probably thought it was as good a theory as any. But Amy mentions that Willow had the power inside all along. She (and anyone with a connection to witchcraft) could feel it and it made her jealous. So I'm going to have to go with what the show says at this point. The whole eyes-going-black thing has been used on the show from the start and typically only happens to witches who have an incredible amount of power (Amy's mom in season one, Willow on many occassions). Could be very similar to The Force in Star Wars where some just have more potential inborn that others.

But, as I said, an interesting theory that is only slightly disproved by this week's ep. :)
