Buckler plus 2h-weapon

If you use a buckler and a 2h weapon such as a greatsword do you get the buckler AC bonus? I would've thought no, but the text is unclear and may only apply to 2 weapon fighting.

I don't see any reason to disallow it. That said, I consider bucklers slightly cheesy, and the Improved Buckler Defense feat really cheesy.

Buckler: This small metal shield is worn strapped to your forearm. You can use a bow or crossbow without penalty while carrying it. You can also use your shield arm to wield a weapon (whether you are using an off-hand weapon or using your off hand to help wield a two-handed weapon), but you take a –1 penalty on attack rolls while doing so. This penalty stacks with those that may apply for fighting with your off hand and for fighting with two weapons. In any case, if you use a weapon in your off hand, you don’t get the buckler’s AC bonus for the rest of the round.

Putting the 2nd quoted sentence in context of the first quoted sentence makes the text perfectly clear in my opinion. Especially with that "In any case" which implies there are multiple ways to satisfy the "weapon in your offhand" condition.

I don't think it's unclear. If you are using a 2h weapon, is you or is you ain't my constituency using your off hand?

I'd like to toss in a bit of reality... bucklers are held in the hand, not strapped to your arm... But the game designers felt otherwise...

Excuse me!

*takes reality out back and beats it with a dire flail*

Better now.

The difference between a buckler and a dire flail being that bucklers are actual items.

Dire flails are just a really quick method to smack yourself in the back of the head...

Aaaah! You're still trying to get your realism in my D&D!

I have no problem with fantasy games having fantasy elements. Dragons, elves, unicorns etc. are not an issue. But when you introduce elements of reality, I expect them to actually function like they do in reality.

And a buckler is not strapped to your forearm.
