Buffy 4/28 - SPOILERS

on that note ...

did anyone else get the feeling that the mass exodus from Sunnydale was just fake or unwarranted? i mean, other than the one incident at the school, we haven't seen anything to really show us that this appocolypse is any worse than any other that's gone down in Sunnydale. so what's the big deal?

and Umbran, i like the way you think ;)

It wasn't one incident, things have been brewing for weeks (Sunnydale time). They have talked of crime getting worse and things like that. We haven't been shown, because we really don't need to. The main story is about Buffy and the Scoobs. We know through them that the situation is more dire than usual.

Hmmm... Vague guess and potential minor spoiler stuff ahead...

Okay, most of you probably know that David Boreanaz is going to be in the Buffy series finale (but the spoilers space was there for those who didn't). Up until now, I--and I think everyone--have assumed that he's playing Angel.

Maybe he's just playing the First? After all, Angel's a vamp, and thus just as dead as Spike or Dru. It'd be interesting if we saw Angel coming back to "tie up" the Buffy/Angel relationship--only to learn it's not Angel at all, and that the real Angel never shows up in the episode.

This is just a guess on my part, and I'm not even sure I'd want it to go down this way, but it could be interesting.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Don't suppose u listened to Clem in the very begining, did u? Joss knew people would be thinking like u, so he put Clem in conveniently telling Buffy exactly WHY everyone was leaving, how it's worse than any of the others, people are going crazy, even the police, the bad things are getting more.. publicly noticeable, etc, etc.

Add to that the fact that they've probably heard about the black-out and Firestorms in LA, and you've got some pretty scared people.

The real crime of this episode is that NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED. That makes sense in mid-season, perhaps, but this is episode 19. We should be amidst the roller-coaster drops and turns, not riding up the hill.

Have you ever heard the phrase 'The Lull Before the Storm'? This is hopefully what we're seeing here. I have my suspicions on how the series will end. Faith will absorb Buffy's power via either her death, which I hope not, or a slayer merge spell cast by Willow which Spike found. It was foreshadowed in Angel that Faith is THE Slayer and not A Slayer

as a quick note.
im 99% positive that the first ep or two of season 5 had a comment about why they could NEVER do the buffy-channels-the-power-of-willow-xander-and-giles trick ever again.

and negative zero chalks this up to me reaching (like i'm prone to do) BUT

caleb commented about Xander being the "one who sees"
xander previously descrived himself to dawn as being "the one who sees things"
dawn is ALWAYS around the summers house, in the corner, being ignored.
the baddies know an awful lot about what the scoobies are always planning.
and dawn kicked buffy out of the house.

any chance that little dawnie is up to no good?

Here I am out on this limb and with me is a wild thought...

Caleb and Conner (from Angel) why does this relate. Conner wanting something pure and good, the end of his interal-demons, his warped mind. Is it possible, is it likely, that Caleb is Conner from another plane!

Man, you really shouldn't hit the booze this early in the morning. ;)

No, that trick only works in the X-Men universe, with children of Jean Grey and Scott Summers.

JC and Jemal, yes i am aware that we've been told that things are bad. yes i did listen to Clem's speech. my problem with it is that it feels too much like a writer's cheesy cop-out rather than a real part of the show. with all the nothing that's been going on the the last several eps, it wouldn't be too hard to show bad things happening around the town.

this show has done stuff like that before. in fact it was one of the things i liked about it. catching lil snippets of the outside world in the background was always a lil treat when you caught it.

JC thinks that we don't need to be "shown" and he's probly right, we don't "need" to be. but it would have made it feel more real for me, had there had been more of an attempt to show it, rather than just having the writers wave their hands and go "these aren't the droids you're looking for." or something ;)
