JC thinks that we don't need to be "shown" and he's probly right, we don't "need" to be. but it would have made it feel more real for me, had there had been more of an attempt to show it, rather than just having the writers wave their hands and go "these aren't the droids you're looking for." or something ;)
It probably just comes down to taste at this point. I was really reading into things so maybe what they showed was enough for me. :D

Only 4 more Buffy hours...

with all the nothing that's been going on the the last several eps, it wouldn't be too hard to show bad things happening around the town

One man's "nothing" is another man's character development, I suppose.

When you count the commercials, they've got about 40 minutes of storytelling per episode. That's not a lot of screen time. If you thought what weve already seen was nothing, imagine it watered down with more scenes that don't directly tie into the plot at all.

Have you ever heard the phrase 'The Lull Before the Storm'? This is hopefully what we're seeing here. I have my suspicions on how the series will end. Faith will absorb Buffy's power via either her death, which I hope not, or a slayer merge spell cast by Willow which Spike found. It was foreshadowed in Angel that Faith is THE Slayer and not A Slayer

Yes, that could be it. But think abou THIS...
We already know that there CAN be more than 1 slayer at a time, right?
I'm also thinking Spike found a spell/magic thing, but I don't think Merging is what it'll do.

Yeah, it looks like Buffy got "voted off the island." :)

Anybody else thinking that there's some kind of a "Slayer only" superweapon of some sort hidden at that church that Spike and Andrew checked out at the end? I'm thinking something like a Holy Avenger that does mega-damage to any evil person that tries wielding it (which might explain why Caleb didn't take it or destroy it).

I don't think it'll be a physical weapon, more likely some kind of power she can absorb (like the one she already passed up, if not a second shot at just that). I'm glad she left; now all the noobs can get themselves into really bad trouble, and Buffy can show back up in time to (with her newly acquired power) save all their stupid butts. Then she should laud it over them.

When the First and Caleb were talking, they kept refering to their plan of how "she" and the "slayer" would be ready soon. That "she" needed just another push. (I can't remember exactly what they said.)

Does anyone else think they are refering to Faith and not Buffy?

Well, the First keeps appearing to Caleb as Buffy, not Faith, and Caleb's whole response to her indicates that SHE is the true slayer. Also, on Angel they had agents of the First making an attempt on Faith's life early on. That would mean she is not at all crucial to the First's ultimate plan.

Here's another idea (not likely, but just a possibility): what if the "superweapon" or whatever at the old church isn't something that Caleb and the First are trying to keep Buffy from, but something that they want her to find?

With the surviving monk's mention of Caleb's anger at discovering that it is not for him but only for "her", I wondered if that's the big plan - beat on Buffy and get her to despair until she seizes the option of finding a special weapon or power. Maybe that's the final push that she needs. And her getting the weapon/power either allows the First to get it from her, or possibly even turns her to the dark side (that phrase sounds familiar somehow :D).

After all, Caleb didn't kill Buffy when he had the chance in the school, and the First and he just let the church sit there without any guards or anything to prevent the good guys from getting in. Seems suspicious to me.

Opinions?

Possible, but not the mostl likely, IMHO.

I think the inscription is the main piece of evidence that Caleb has stolen Slayer power. The inscription isn't referring to some new weapon, it's referring instead to what Caleb already has. A misogynist of his caliber would hate being reminded that he's got something a woman is supposed to have, and he isn't.
