Oh, I dunno. How many overcoats are you going to take with you when you rush abroad i an ermergency situation...?

In fact, thinking about it, I only own one warm overcoat. I wear it all the time during the winter.

True, but it's an every situation kind of thing. I suppose it could just seem more suspicious with of everything else going on.

I just want to know wether he's really dead or not!!!!

I still say not. I think if they First Evil had him, it's be Checkmate. He goes off Anya and leads her into a trap, killing her. Then As Anya, the First Evil leads Zander into a trap and he's dead. As Zander the first Evil leads away Willow, she dies. Once one of the core group would be impersonated and not realized, it'd be so easy to divide and conquor.

I still refuse to beleive that he's incorporeal. It would just be so stupid. There's a certain level of plausibility required, even on a sci-fi show, and nobody noticing that their old friend is intangible is, frankly, ridiculous. I'd laugh at Joss Whedon in derision if that were the case.

For that reason, I don't think he is. Joss Whedon isn't that stupid.

Despite any of my debating one way or the other, I agree with Morrus. Giles is alive.

The clincher for me was in this week's episode. His reactions to EVERYTHING when he was alone with Anya, from her conversation with the demon in the alley to their stumbling return from the Eye's dimension, were just simply too Giles for it to have been The First.

I'm tempted to agree myself, as the whole thing about Giles being dead is really obvious. It's just sitting right out there, and... c'mon. I'm giving Joss more credit than that. I'm going to bet that he's put this red herring in the river to keep us off of something else.

If I'm wrong, of course, I'll just slap my forehead. It won't have been a BAD plot twist, but it'll be one that pretty much everyone saw coming (which some might argue makes for a bad twist)....

I agree with Morrus just for that reason, it would be really stupid, and I trust on Joss Whedon... or that's what I keep saying to myself.

A false lead to avoid the fans shouting: "We knew Dawn would become the new Slayer" which seems to be very possible according to what I read here. (By the way, this is my only information source regarding the current season - here in Germany, we are still in the season before...)

Mind you, the Eye said it was something Buffy did, specifically.

::jumps into the conversation fashionably late, hopes nobody notices::

um, waitaminute... didnt the Eye say it was something the SLAYER had done? I know Buffy and the Scoobies (and UPN) have been calling her the Slayer all this time, but as far as the universe is concerned isn't Faith THE slayer?

And since we haven't seen Faith anytime recently, she could have done just about ANYTHING when we weren't looking.

My take on this whole thing is that the problem is definitely being caused by Faith. As for Giles being real or the First Evil...he was definitely acting a little wonky when he first returned to Sunnydale, but he was all him this past episode. I'm pretty convinced that him acting strange was just a red herring to get you to suspect that it's not really him and keep you guessing.
But either way, we're still guessing so it works for me.
