C&C: Generals

Has anyone else picked this up?

The gameplay is ok. Some of the boards are a lot of fun, but I really miss the movie scenes between missions. The game does not feel like it has a story- just a line up of missions.

The expanding map is one of the cooler features- as is the general experience.

SD- up to USA lvl 6

I'm not up to speed on this... isn't it another RTS game? *yawn* I must admit I'm so bored with this whole genre of games at the moment, but I've been playing them since Herzog Zwei...

It seems you are in the majority from all the responses. :D

I have been playing them as long as Dune 2, but I still like the C&C ones. I generally don't bother with others.

i think I prefer Generals over Starcraft any day. Even though I liked SC back in the day, Generals is actually pretty good. I like the way the three sides were constructed. China is alot like the old Red Alert russians, with a big, powerful military apparatus that crunches it's way across the battlefield with heavy tanks and huge numbers of infantrymen. Overlords are the Mammoth Tanks of Generals, even though they actually beat the Mammoth Tanks in their versatility. A Speaker Tower on top of an Overlord combined with a few extra Overlords with Gatling Guns, and you got yourself a pretty nasty combo.
The USA are actually very cool too, have less vehicles to choose between, but make up for this in their superior air power. They also have more intelligence gathering items than any other nation. The Comanche Helicopters are sweet, they really kick ass on tanks. Rocket Barrage, wont say anything more....
The GLA are the new invention of the game, kewl kewl kewl. The whole faction is centered towards hit-and-run tactics. The first multi-player game I played was as GLA. My rocket buggies kept harassing his base, killing tanks and infantry from afar. Every now and then, I used suicide bombers with a small entourage of rebels to really blow up some buildings. Generally, I used terrorist tactics to keep him low while I built up a sufficient attack force.

Anyways, really really kewl game :)

I play on Netcafe, so I mostly play on network. There's 120 comps, so there's always a game of Generals starting. But it is really kool, they made some good changes. Compared to Red Alert 1 & 2, you cant rely on big bunch of tanks. Aircraft will slay & kill you.
