Campaign Teasers / Trailers

Ostler

First Post
My players have been pestering me to restart my high level campaign.
(Currently on hold after the birth of my son 6 months ago.)

I was thinking it would be rat-bastardly to send out teasers periodically for a couple of weeks while I get things prepared. Sort of like movie trailers.

Anybody done anything like this before? Anybody want to help?

More info to come...

Dr Midnight has done some amazing trailers in Flash animation. I tend towards leading and suggestive emails.

No, not that kind.

Sometimes when I send a reminder email for the upcoming session, I'll do it in the style of a movie trailer or (more often) in the style of the old radio teasers.

Such as:

When we last left our heroes they had just come face-to-face with their arch-nemesis Larry the Lich, in the Temple of Deepest Darkest Doom!!!!

SEE Martin Monk perform extra-special acrobatics!

HEAR the crunch of bones underneath Claude the Cleric's mace!

FEEL the deadly poison travel up your arm as Wanda Wizard fails her Fort Save!

Will Frank the Fighter be able to save his illegitimate sister from certain doom?!?!?

Will Darla Druid ever get Fluffy the Dire Bear, her compainion and friend, to try liverwurst?!?!?!

But most importantly. . . .

WILL THEY SURVIVE?!?!?!?

Tune in on X day at X time at X place and find out!

P.S. It doesn't always have to be silly, but it is good if you use the actual situation, etc. (but, of course, you knew that) ;)

If you're decent at a little fiction, just write up some short stories for them to read that lead up to the events of the campaign. short snippets of prologue, if you want it that way.
