Canada Ranks the Star Trek Movies!

I'm talking about big spoilers (think "The 6th Sense"), mind you. Not piddly little plot elements that are usually seen in trailers, commercials and the like.

While I'm definitely on the other side of this argument from you, don't think I'm the extremist I would seem to be coming off as.

It's all good. I think we're all mature enough to disagree and still be civil. I accepted that others have different views from me a long time ago.

I know I would have killed anyone who spoiled the ending of The 6th Sense on me.

As it was I had Citizen Kane ruined for me when I was told
And Rosebud was a sled...

I hear you there. I understand The Life of David Gale (I think I have that spelled right) has a similar-style ending (as in knowing the ending ruins the movie). I plan on watching that in the next day or so...my wife's already watched it. IMO, The Usual Suspects falls into that category as well.

You didn't know that? I haven't seen the movie (though I want to), but I've known that little tidbit for years. Does knowing that really ruin the movie?

Someone did spoil The 6th Sense for me. Didn't completely ruin it for me as it is still a good flick, but it killed my overall experience. :( I didn't see it in the theater because I knew the ending. I watched it on DVD way after it came out, so it was less painful. I just tried to enjoy the film for what it was. I got cheated out of a thrill, and who doesn't love a thrill?

Knowing the ending to Citizen Kane doesn't ruin the film but it takes some oomph away. It's more fun to find stuff out on your own than have someone tell it to you.

Oh-kay I think the spoiler stuff isd getting a little ridiculous when you are blocking out 'spoiler' for movies 20, 30 and 40 years old or more. if you live under that big of a rock that you don't know Rosebud was the sled's name or Darth Vader was Luke's father then I have no sympathy.

I disagree. There are a whole generation of people who have yet to see movies like Citizen Kane. I would be upset if some ruined either movie for an up and coming movie fan. I guess I would just rather be safe than sorry. I don't mean to be so anal about this stuff but it's just the way I feel.

Honestly, it's easy to avoid these things by simply sticking a spoiler tag in the title. Makes folks a bit more aware.
